Refurbishing Goretex?
    #8003491 - 02/10/08 02:06 AM (16 years, 1 month ago)

Is it possible? Ive got an old goretex jacket (purchased used, probably at least 10 years old.) and id like to refurbish it to make it more than water resistant..

Is there a point where Goretex gets too old to refurbish?

(not sure if pubbers will be knowledgeable about this, but thought id try anyways.)

not really, i have a moonstone from over 10 years ago as well, i,ve used the spray on stuff from REI and have ironed it, it last for a few outings then it goes back to not repelling water again, the little pores in the fabric expand after alot of use and thats that, still a good shell though but not for the rainstorms anymore

I had a North Face shell I used until the inner gore-tex was wearing
holes and subsuquently not being waterproof. I've used a silicon
spray for the outer nylon, it reduces breathability however, it will
waterproof your shell. I use the same stuff on my tent fly.
