the valley central nm

150 mile square in nm that strangly p..cubensis or possibly a different species grows rather large.
in the summer its very humid and green lots of percipitation,
very unique climate for the area. i think its due to the combo of the elevation and location.

it is. its a good pic because it shows how unique this small area in nm is..
most of nm is dry dessert.
here it seems more like the south east.
im still trying to figure out why.
we still ocasianly have dry spells. but once the rain comes so do the mushrooms.

pan cyan also grows here pretty well.

Unfortunately we do not have a general discussion for exactly these types of things.. And the mods say it would be too much work to moderate a second little sub forum (cause the mods are noobs)

Thats why everyones acting a little off and not to welcome to you. I think its nice though

I'm just skeptical, because New Mexico is just not the right climate for those types of mushrooms. Shit, even western TX isn't. The moisture which moves out of the Gulf of Mexico, which seems to be the essential for cube and cope growth in the us, just doesn't reach that far west.

Well he does say "p..cubensis or possibly a different species grows rather large." maybe its some other golden capped mushroom? People have gotten plenty of mushrooms confused with cubes (like green gills)

Cholo have you verified cubes? have you tripped off them?

stropharias and inactive pans. Those inactive manure pans love that kind of climate, where most of the rain comes via thunderstorms, and then it gets sunny and dries out again. Up here, those are perfect conditions for semiovatus and sphinctrinus. I guarentee the humidity doesn't stay over 60-70% for very long after a thunderstorm down there. Cubes and copes need very humid subtropical to tropical conditions.

What do you mean by very humid, and lots of precipitation? How humid, and how much precip?

Implee, I'm the frizzy hair king.

Cholo, those two mushrooms (P. cubensis and C. cyanescens) have never been recorded to grow wild any where near that area of the country. It would be neat if it was true, so next time you find something like that look up a local professional mycologist, and let that person have a look at them. Otherwise it is kind of hard for anyone else to believe. Or show us pictures some time at least.
