12 BRF/fine verm cakes with mix very loosely packed into the jars, super dense spore solution (black as ink!) at inoculation, fast colonization in heated incubation chamber, good rhyzome growth, lotsa threads, 10 of the 12 jars 100% colonized at 2.5 weeks but now... a very pale yellow, so pale that unless you were looking for it you might miss it, a very VERY pale yellow growth, just little spots here and there... any thoughts? Can't seem to load a pic here, probably just as well considering how poor the picture I have is.

Sometimes cakes can turn a very very faint yellow and it doesn't necessarily indicate contamination. I'm not sure what causes it but I've seen it happen to cakes that grew plenty of tasty and, of course, legal mushrooms. I'd just give it time and if the cake wont grow shroomies or the yellow color intensifies and spreads, chuck it. As long as it isn't making you sick, in which case definitely get fucking rid of it.

It's metabolites from excess heat. Colonize jars at normal room temperature for best health. RR

Wail, they've been outta the incubator and in normal room temperature for a couple of days now and already I am seeing a reduction in the intensity of the yellowish colouring. And in fact it doesn't look like any kind of "growth" I have ever seen... I mean, it doesn't look like an outside contaminant, a distinct enemy mold; there's no clear indication of seperateness from the mycelium. It's just pale yellow mycelium. So thanks guys for yer wisdom, I am gonna do as you say and wait this one out, see what comes of it.
