Shroom growing upside down (pic)

i posted a comment earlier this week because when this pin first formed it was growing towards the bottom and i was wondering if it was from the aluminum foil. somebody said that as it keeps growing it will turn towards the light. well it obviously didnt, it is just growing straight down. is the light coming through my window reflecting of the foil and causing it to grow like that? ive used foil everytime before and my FC is always in the same spot but this is the first time ive ever seen this. what do you think?

This won't help you at all, but the first time I grew was at a friends house and we had a lamp directly over the fc. The shrooms went nuts growing in every which direction. I'm gonna check back on this cuz I'd like to know the answer too.

if your light is poor the perlite or aluminum foil could be reflecting more light than the overhead source. I've seen people put a few inches of black paper or w.e around there terrarium to avoid this or you can just get a desk lamp to give better lighting.

This is probably a completely n00b question to ask: but what's so bad about mushies not growing straight up? Is there an actual problem with the afflicted fruit or is it simply aesthetic?

My friends PF cakes had a tendency, despite a solely upward-originating lightsource, to grow upside down. one of them was so profound that we turned the cake over and it just looked like a normal one, shrooms right-side up.

aesthetic I believe.
there may be some sort of complication but I mean it's growing isn't it, and if that shroom doesn't grow as big as it would normally grow the nutrients will just go somewhere else, right? thus the same yield?

foil isnt good. use the lids of the jars or something that wont be reflecting light from the bottom.

it is not aesthetic, there is an actual problem. by tomorow myy shroom will be poking into the perlite, anbd wont get as big as it should. i am going to have to remove it before its even half way mature

Just let it go, whats the worst that could happen?
I'll Answer my own question, it will just grow around whatever it runs into. You might have to pick off a few pieces of perlite but thats it.

I don't think it matters if it grows into the perlite. It will probably turn upright or at least horizontal and will still fully mature. On my grow I had shrooms growing every direction, up, down, sideways, if anything, it won't drop any spores which will make it a good cap for making a print.

I've have the same problem with my BRF cakes a while back. I don't remember exactly what I used but before the shroom could touch the perlite, I put a piece of plastic right under where it would have touched.
Shroom ended up touching the plastic and turning right up toward the sky

when it hits the perlite it will turn right side up or loopty loop side ways and all but NEVER have i ever seen a fruit go INto the perlite.
ive had fruits on the perlite tilting the cake upwards and it still grows to full maturity.
sideways fruits are not a problem, but visually unappealing.

jam a close hanger in it and prop it up
i think you should just cut it early, i like the idea of that anyways, thats the way they do it when they go out for retail. as seen in the pics here http://www.buy-magic-mushrooms.com/shop/home.php

rr mentioned that the perlite reflects the light making the mushrooms think that way is up. Its normal, okay
-------------------- Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

dont remove it, when it hits the perlite it should start growing along the perlite and then change direction. my pf shrooms would always have curled stems because fruits would start growing down and then grow up.
plus when a fruit grows while touching the perlite it'll pick up even more weight and end up to be a biggun.

I have a big light next to my fruiting chamber, and my mushrooms grow crazy too- some were mutated and had two stems curled in a loop and shared the same cap( no pic)
But for the most part, they grow upsidedown also, and in weird directions. I'm guessing the light is driving them crazy-too much?
