Yes, Amanita Muscaria var. Formosa should be hallucinogenic. Maybe someone else should confirm this since I'm no expert. They should be ok to ingest as long as you are careful and don't eat too much. Good luck.

Well for everyones suprise, Amanita muscaria is not a true hallucinogen but is actually an inebriant. It intoxicates the user and then leaves the user in a dream like stupor for several hours, usually with a lot of nausea, delirium, prfuse sweating and toggle switches where the bidy jerks violently to the left and right of the floor where you have probably fallen.

Most people (outside of Jonathan Ott) find the experience unpleasant.

I personally do not re4commend trying this shroom without a participant first reading R. Gordon Wasson's Soma co authored by Wendy O'Doniger.

I have personally smoke doobies dipped in Amanita juice extracted from the shrooms in a blender and then allowed to dry under a halite.

It was a very speedy electric emotional experience which made me very skitsy and aloofed.

be careful.

hey GG,

I'm no expert, but that doesn't look like muscaria to me. The muscaria I've seen all had warts on the cap and a ring on the stem. Also the most common feature of amanitas is the "cup" around the bottom of the stem.

That looks like Amanita caesarea, a rare edible variety but should be avoided because oif the deadly related species.

I find the Amanita muscaria formosa which grow in the Allegheny foothills of my backyard to be a superb psychedelic/entheogen. I have consumed them numerous times. Sometimes they work (as well as red var.) other times not. I suppose a lot of variables could influence this. The last batch I took were indeed reminiscent of indole psychedelics, though characteristicly different in several ways; chiefly - a flush of "water energy" overtakes, hallucinations are not cartoonish. A sense of walking two feet off the ground is common to many - I'm hardly the only one besides Mr. Ott, at least in this neck of the woods, to enjoy these mushrooms.
