Straw as Bulk Substrate vs Sterility

Hello. I was hoping for a little piece of advice. I Know that I can keep a sterile environment via homemade glovebox. But when moving on to bulk substrate, specifically straw, can I proceed with a "semi sterile" environment? I mean after the 170degree bath and all. I cant fit a 12sqft growing chamber into a home made glove box and cannot recreate such a sterile environment anywhere else but the glovebox. Please respond. Thank you Camplo

I removed your email address from your post for your own safety.
You don't have to be sterile with bulk substrates. You only need to be clean. You can inoculate straw in the open air, once you've pasteurized it. You don't need to use a glovebox. RR

I have most of my technique as down as a first timer could be. I'm a science major so naturally I'm minded to be a perfectionist with technique. I've read the MMGG, I downloaded "the mushroom cultivator". My design for a grow chamber involves a 4x3 box and a cool mist humidifier. I just learned about using heating pads for heating. Does anything sound like a set up for failure so far RR or anyone in the know? I was planning on not useing a casing for I believe that the casing would serve to hold humidity and that wouldn't be needed because of the type of grow chamber? is this correct? camplo

A casing layer is always preferable if you want to go the extra mile. The casing layer will provide a microclimate for your substrate, which is favorable to the grow.
