What should I do with this?

I have this almost fully colonized spawn bag full of rye:

The last one I had I planted in Kowanite compost that I ordered off of the internet and it worked fairly well. But I want to get this one growing without ordering anything else off of the Internet. Should I pick a random casing method and attempt it? Or is there a specific method that would serve this spawn the best? My last attempt worked and I've had plenty of mushies so far, but it was amateurish at best so I'm looking for the best way to turn this one into a winner

Why not spawn it to coir or hpoo?

Just remove the mycelium by hand and separate the UN-colonized rye berries from the colonized sections, bust it up in a sterilized bowl and spawn it to bulk in a mono tub or another bag.

I guess what I'm asking is, what is the best way to prepare bulk substrate? Last time I had a pre-sterilized bag of compost, this time I'm looking to mix/sterilize it myself so I don't have to buy anything online.
edit: if I did end up just buying sterilized bulk substrate online, does a larger amount of substrate mean larger yields in the end? And does a larger amount of substrate run a higher risk of contamination?

Depeding on what substrate your using, there is tonnes of information on this site that you can use if you look and find out what method works for you, i live in the great white North so i cant get hpoo right now since everything is covered in white haha so i use coir which is simple to prepare as for what amounts to use for that large i am not sure i stick with small casings but again with a little bit of research you can find it easily enough. I wouldnt waste your money on buying it tho since like i said coir is cheap if you cant get hpoo.

Casing comes after you have a fully run bulk substrate.
Depending on availability in your area you can gather your own horse manure (Just for your sake RR) or cattle manure.
You can purchase straw at most pet stores, it comes in junior bundles for about $5 and then read the 50/50 straw/manure tek
Or, for ease of use and easy access, buy a cheap package of coffee grounds, buy some coir (echo earth or bed a beast) are the two brand names I know of so far...
and do a 75/25 coir/coffee grounds, they produce just as well as manure/cow manure and are easy to obtain.

So just break up the spawn in a sterile container with coir and coffee grinds and wait for the mycelia to take over in the dark? What needs to be done with the coir/coffee mix beforehand as far as sterilization/pasteurization is concerned?

To be honest with you, I say 75/25 coir/Cgrounds out of convince but in reality I just measure by eye with much success.
All you need to do is take your coir/coffee grounds and place it in a pot of water brought to a boil for five minutes and let sit for a hour and a half, poor out the mixture through a colander (careful on the poor speed since coffee grounds will easily fall threw under the water/coir weight, let drain, squeeze until next to no water runs off and then place it in a container, place in your colonized spawn and mix it up really well. Place a tight fitting lid over the container (or tinfoil bent over the edges) and poke a flurry of needle sized holes in it to allow excess Co2 to escape. Incubate in total darkness for six to seven days (could take longer) once run the surface area should be fully colonized.
Case if you would like and then fruit. Take care.
