Safari Browser for WIndows !!!!!!!!!!!
    #8003308 - 02/10/08 12:23 AM (16 years, 1 month ago)

i downloaded safari, the new version that works with windows!
let me tell you it is fucking AWESOME. it beats firefox and IE
the only single problem im having is downloading torrents

see when i click on a download link it just starts automatically downloading
so it dowloads the torrent to my desktop, then i have to click 'open'

with IE and firefox it prompts me when i click the link and i can just choose 'open' so it opens right in my torrent program.

does anyone know how i can fix this? ive searched for a setting or some plugin, but to no avail. i may just be missing something.

oh and let me tell you, everyone needs to get safari beta. this is the new ultimate web browser. its sleek, runs smooth and loads pages lightning FAST. its actually faster than firefox. apple sure knows how to make a good piece of software. firefox is so 2007, safari is going to take over try it yourself:

Not too hard when Microsoft is your competition. If Microsoft didn't have a Monopoly, they wouldn't have anything... Firefox is my primary browser and Safari is my backup. I've had trouble with Java/script/applets in Safari in the past.

No idea how to fix your issue.

Everything Safari has, Firefox has or has an extension that does the same thing.

Safari on Windows is pretty crappy IMHO... maybe it's nice on OSX, but the way they implement their own subpixel font rendering and GUI widgets is just distracting and obnoxious. (Guess I understand the motivation behind Camino now, heh). Not to mention that despite passing the Acid2 test, it still fails with some common CSS and JavaScript which validates and works fine in every single other browser. After IE it's definitely the most annoying to develop for. Why they felt the need to add more incompatibilities to the IE/Firefox/Opera mix is incomprehensible to me. They're lucky they share a rendering engine with Konqueror or I wouldn't even bother to support them. If you want lightweight, go with Opera. If you want feature-rich, go with Firefox + extensions. Either one is more mature and available on a wider range of platforms than Apple's disappointing offering.

I like Opera as it seems to run much lighter, as you say. However when it renders web pages it looks noticeably crappier than the firefox version
