By "religion" do you mean the Christian church?

Naturally, but the other religions fare no better, they just chose different 'facts' and refused to change with new information.

Most Christians dont believe the earth is 6,000 years old. Most of them believe in evolution and the big bang.
What you point out it good though, its the key difference between science and many other endeavors (including religion/spirituality). In science nothing is taken as fact, and mainstream theories are always evolving and self correcting.

religion vs. science is another example of the original wholeness of the self being split into antithetical fragments which war on eachother
both science and religion come from the same source

Not to mention, religion is a mythical system. It's story telling that conveys the voyage of living and dying. IMO, a healthy outlook on spirituality is a precursor to healthy applications of science. I don't antagonize them.

One is a methodology and one is a dogma; neither of which has anything to do with being or self.

It's all about our mind. Science is a relative young discipline and has still much to learn. The trend towards more and more specialisation is already reversing. Soon we will see where all those myths belong and why personalisation plays such a strong rol in them. I think it's already obvious. It's all about the mind. And its strongest ability is to build/recognize patterns by...finding similarities..

its obvious that, like john kerry, science is a flip flopper.
