Irresponsible Dog Owner

I am such an asshole! I left two pot cookies on the counter last night before going to bed. Sometime during the night or early morning our rottweiler ate them, and now she's high as a kite. I feel really bad for her... :frown:
They were chocolate cookies, but small ones, so I'm not too worried about that. But they were pretty strong cookies, and she is definitely out of it. She's just laying there, pissing herself, and my girlfriend is freakin out.
I did some google research and I think she's gonna be just fine, it'll just take time. Certainly no lethal danger, it was probably only a couple grams of bud. The dog is about 7 or 8 and weighs maybe 65 pounds.
God, this sucks. I'm just glad it wasn't the cat that ate them...

I would worry more about the chocolate consumption, personally.

Poor puppy.. :frown:  I am always anal about leaving drugs on my countertop...my whippit-lab mix is always scrounging for goodies on the counter.  She almost got some mushrooms yesterday but I intervened just in time.

Much love for your rottie...

No need to be a pussy about it...the dogs going to be fine, they eat much worse on a regular basis when your not looking I'm sure.

And your not an asshole or irresponsible for leaving them out there, your dog broke the rules and ate something of YOUR counter...I would say it had it coming. Or maybe it should be better trained. Either way, its not the end of the world.

But If i were you ide stop placing my drugs on the counter tops...

Yeah, drugs should stay in drawers, not on the countertops. I think my cat probably pushed it onto the ground, cause the cookies were out of dog reach.
Really, I know she'll be fine, I'm not real worried, but the gf is. But thanks for the reassurance.
Peace

marijuana has basically the same effects on a dog as a human, except they're ultra light weights lol

my daschund started sniffing the air when i smoked around her as a puppy, and i could tell she was getting high because she would start exploring weird places she probably normally wouldn't have (i.e the mound of clothes in the cloest) which was followed by ravenous munchies and a long nap

eventually she started getting up in my lap and putting her nose in it when i exhaled
i never forced it on her, but a few times after she did it herself, i held her mouth to blow it at her better and she was quite willing

yes i'm saying my dog made the choice to become a stoner
even though i don't let her anymore

she's probably the sweetest dog that i've ever had, but unfortunately i had to leave her at my parents

she's incredibly trusting, she'll let me hold her on her back above my head and run around if i want LOL

Yeah, chocolate is more to worry about than anything else.

My dogs smell when i'm smoking and come to join me, they love getting high and laying around on my bed like bums. One can't walk up the stairs because of age/bad hip so i will carry her up when i hear her whining.

I get a feeling that other than eating, being high as all hell and having their bellys scratched is one of the best things they will see in their life.

very true anyone420

a friend of mine actually claims he tamed his wild dog with pot
he had a pitt mix that was absolutely pent up and aggresive and didn't really like my friend
well he got the dog hella stoned and it was pretty scared having it forced on it at such a late age
but he just comforted the dog and petted it to sleep
and to this day the dog is pretty calm and really friendly and well mannored

Thing is to remember that unless your using real Bakers chocolate, odds are it probably wont contain enough theobromine in two cookies to harm the dog.
At 60 lbds it would have to consume roughly 3 and half pounds of milk chocolate, or 6 ounces of bakers chocolate to reach a dangerous level.

A family friends dog broke into a locked pantry (somehow) and ate about 15 trays of chocolate brownies. She lived, but had to have her stomach pumped. Poor thing.

I'm sure the dog will be okay. I mean they drug up dogs for surgery and get far more screwed up. PLUS, think of all the dogs who have "Accidentally" drank a bit of alcohol - they came out okay in the end. A little Mary J. won't do the dog too bad.
