I agree that you should have the right to destroy yourself in any way you see fit.

It is very easy for you to find stores that sell American made clothing. There is also an internet. Who the fuck do you think you are to dictate to Wal-Mart or anybody else that they need to supply and buy American made products exclusively? Wal-Mart and foreign manufacturers allow poor Americans the ability to afford more than they would otherwise be able to. Why do you hate poor Americans?
So WalMart is for poor people?
You enjoy using absolutes don't you? I wasn't dictating anything to WalMart. I was a prospective customer who at that particular time had a particular reason for buying something made in a particular place. They asked me why I was so intent on buying something made in the US so I told them (maybe hotly). The next day I drove for 30 min. to get some generic coveralls made here. What bothers me about WalMart is they seem to exclusively stock foreign goods.
I figured I'd give WalMart another chance (and I do this almost twice a year) to listen to a prospective customer and make some changes to gain my business. Unsatisfied, I took my business elsewhere. Am I not a good capitalist?

WalMart allows poor people to purchase things they would not otherwise be able to afford. This is largely due to their reliance on cheap foreign suppliers for their goods. Duh.Quote:

You were being jackasses. If they don't have what you want get out. They owe you nothing.Quote:

That's fine. Except for your ridiculous sense that they should be carrying something just because you want it.

Enlightenment is a myth.
In saying this, you lead me to believe that you have never experienced it.
"Enlightenment (or brightening) broadly means the acquisition of new wisdom or understanding enabling clarity of perception."
If you have never experienced enlightenment, then I guess you haven't acquired any new wisdom. Either that or your perception is flawless and you live in a perpetual state of enlightenment. I doubt the latter very much.

Nope. Its just a means that happens to work for certain people. I guess you should quit trying to smoke it then... Or actually try it. In the very least it might entertain you for a little bit, giving us here at the Shroomery a break from your seemingly constant shit-stirring.

Once a friend and I went into a WalMart and started raising hell because we couldn't find any clothes made in the US. We talked to a manager and he was even willing to give us a 5% discount on any of the clothes we were going to buy that day... Its almost like he couldn't comprehend the principle that we wanted our money to stay in the US. Its pretty sad.
who the hell cares if products are made in places other than the U.S.? I am so sick of this globalization/free trade bullshit. Look up the Asian Tigers. They are countries that have raised their standard of living tremendously due to globalization and outsourcing. The "slave labor" that you talk about is obviously better than most of the other jobs available in those countries. You can't hold those jobs to the standards here in the U.S. On top of that, globalization has been a huge stabilizing force in the economy.

I do. Maybe its just because I'm so counter-culture . I don't know. I just don't like the fact that we rely too much on other countries. I strive to be as self-sufficient as I can.
Damn, this thread has gone a long way in a different direction.

But relying on other countries is not a bad thing. It has helped keep the economy steady, and allowed us to shift our focus on high technology, and other more profitable sectors, while also helping developing countries (the Asian Tigers) become developed nations, with a higher standard of living. In many cases globalization has a negative effect on other countries but it is usually because of the foreign countries own bureaucracy which screws over its people.
