Basically...
People like you who go down and pick wild cactus is causing it to be extinct. It is SEVERELY over-harvested by hippies going and picking out the fields.
It is an endangered species... and if you ARE lucky enough to find any (which you probably wouldn't be able to anyway) you are doing an extreme injustice by selfishly picking the cactus for yourself.
If you want to do peyote, go to Europe and buy some or order it online and risk customs...
If you don't want to go to Europe, GROW YOUR OWN!
San Pedro cuttings are cheap. Peyote is easy to grow indoors for 6+ months then SUPER EASY to graft to a San Pedro.
Grow 5-6 buttons for 4-5 years... or grow a whole bunch of tiny buttons for 3-4 years....
You can even grow it on San Pedro for 3-4 years then take it off and plant it in the ground for another couple years. This will make its alkaloid content more varied as it gathers goodness from the Earth.
BUT PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD LEFT IN THE WORLD STOP PICKING ALL OUR GODDAMN SACRED CACTUS! LET THEM GROW, REPOPULATE, AND CONTINUE PROTECTING OUR LANDS WITH THEIR SPIRIT!
-------------------- Teonanacatl, open up my eyes This sacrament, this prayer, beyond the world of lies Guide me clearly through that which I dont understand Give me strength to find the path Help me fight any demons as you flow through me wholely This is my prayer, that you protect me from evil, and bring me closer to peace And open up my eyes, so i can see things as you do Amen

Whatever you do do not touch the Lopophoras. If you help with the endangering of them you deserve to get in trouble.

Also it is waste of time because not only there is hardly any REAL peyote left there are MANY "false peyote" out there that look near identical and grow in the same regions.
Unless you really know your stuff you will pick mostly these by mistake. Its really not worth it...
