implee, I bet that I could find shrooms right now in east Texas.
scout24, it was strange with Mushroom John and the subbalteatus. angryshroom was showing humungous hauls coming in from lawns but for some reason mj continued to claim that they did not grow in lawns (even though he saw plenty of solid proof that they did). At the time it just might not have been well known.. and I do not think that PMOTW says anything about subbs growing in lawns.
I requested several weeks ago that Gumby get in to gear and change a few things with his guide that I mentioned to him. Perhaps there will be a note next to that link to Gumbys guide on the rules page that says in red that there are some inaccuracies that are waiting to be corrected (plus the links to his image galleries on that guide are broken). There is a red note next to mj's "Shroomerys Ultimate Guide to Mushroom Hunting" also, and that is another thing on the list that needs improvement (I was browsing through it the other day and saw quite a few mistakes).
And it was like I mentioned to you, you had a good picture of the two mushrooms to share, you should have just created a new topic for it, it would have been a better platform for discussion then not having a photograph to share. Again I suppose that topic should not have been locked..
One thing at a time though guys. Thanks for all of your input it is very helpful. We are going to have to put any sub-forum ideas on the back-burner for a bit.. the first thing to do is to make the forum we already have here the best that it can be.

I posted the image in response to the OP's question. I wouldn't have posted it otherwise.
My point is that it shouldn't be up to a few moderators to determine that a topic is 'completely covered' and therefore closed.

the hunting forum is right up there with one or two others with crazy stupid rules and overly-enthusiastic moderation (oh my god, they mentioned its gonna rain somewhere... lock it quick... for the children)
A sub forum would be cool and wouldn't clog up the forum list.
but then again, i just read, never post here, and don't know shit about the topics discused... so take this for what you will; maybe the people who actually post here are in agreement about the horrors of weather discusion (oh, the banality of evil)

yea, thats why I want an OTD or something in the hunting forum, for weather and unrelated things. Its not that big of a deal, I mean obv the people who primarily post in here would like to discuss other things that would get locked in an instant, so I think it would only make sense if those things are prohibited to being discussed then a sub forum seems to make quite alot of sense. Yes the argument can be made that we have other sections in the site, like the PUB and otd but like said before, a majority of the people who can concentrate long enough to read an entire post are not the people likely to have anything worthy to contribute to any discussion nor no the answer to anything wildlife/forest related.

Well, no one seems to agree what it should be for.
It will be up to the Mushroom Hunting Forum moderators to decide IF there will be a sub-forum, and then if so, what it will be for. We will take everyones opinion into consideration, but we don't promise to please everyone with the final decision (that would of course, be impossible). When we have sorted everything out, there will be an announcement.
why does it have to be for anything? I think its pretty obvious at this point in time that it would be for everything mushroom hunting related, that seems to want to be discussed but doing so is against the rules. I honestly dont see the big deal here.

I agree with alan, I'd like to see an informal subforum. I'd have used that alot more this year than the mushroom hunting forum Have a look at my gallery, just b/c mushroom hunting is slow, doesn't mean everything is. I enjoyed looking at the songbird thread, not mushrooms, but... I don't mind the n00bs either, hell I was a n00b once too I agree with GG about the weather rule, too. There's nothing wrong with talking about the weather, it's those "It's raining, will it be good hunting 6.5 hrs. from now" threads that are cited, IMO. I'd be willing to donate some of my time to keeping it orderly, too.

I'm sorry, what? Since when do only Pedophiles chat on IRC? Please think before you speak...
Also, if you're going to call someone stupid, you could at least form a proper sentence.

Well, there shouldn't be anyone under 18 on this site, so pedophilia shouldn't be an issue. Why the fuck would a pedophile try to pick up little boys on a psychedelic mushroom sight anyway?

Completely untrue. I was just outside and there was no rain anywhere, not even a cloud in sight.
You are such a liar.
