casual discussion hunting sub-forum

update just goto irc.shroomery.org port 9999 for ssl #hunting its not as convenient or on the go as forums though
Plus Ythan said if people and mods show that they really want a sub forum he will do it
Well you make a good case , I'll add it if there's demand so let's hear from some other users and mods of the hunting forum. In the meantime I added #hunting to the forum list. -Ythan
---------------- Ok i made a post in Website Announcements and Feedback http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/7998634/an/0/page/0
But because we don't have a sub forum to talk about these types of things i know my thread will probably get locked.
Have a heart this is a direct issue of the hunting forum =-O

I wouldn't go there. BUT I'm also not protesting the Weather rule, so some of you guys contesting the rules better speak up and give some opinions on this!

I don't think it would be a big deal if the weather rule was just loosened up a bit, allowing someone who posts an informative mushroom post to touch on weather. Or a subforum. The only problem I can see is finding someone who would want to moderate it...implee?

A subforum would be best though, because you could post pics of all kinds of things you wanted help with iding. Trees, flowers, plants, birds, the list goes on. It would be beautiful!

Yeah i know it could be something magical and wonderful where our kind get to chat it up about everything...
But "it would be too hard to moderate.."
Ive been on the IRC but i keep missing the few minute long conversations ..
Also about 4 people have came in asking for wild game and rifle/shotgun advice so far
<satcom> anyone here go pheasant hunting? <satcom> im buying a remington 870 12 guage for pheasant/grouse <satcom> do you think its worth spending $100 more for the express model? (it can fire 3 1/2" magnum shells) ----------------- theonlyjohnson> i want to go out to springfield and do some shooting <adrug> its not that kind of #hunting :p <theonlyjohnson> what do you mean? <theonlyjohnson> what kind of hunting is this? <adrug> mushroom hunting <theonlyjohnson> oh...hrmmmm <theonlyjohnson> deer is much tastier
Ive only been able to catch a few conversations, the rest is just hi, hi, then idleness

Uhhh, the point of a sub-forum or chat (in my eyes anyway) would be a place for the "n00bs" to go and talk all about the weather or whatever they want.
The problem with a sub-forum is that I would not want to moderate a forum with tons of off topic chatting. Maybe GGreatOne would, but I have no idea.
ToxicMan, GGreatOne234, and I are discussing the matter.

wow, that conversation is hilarious. Theonlyjohnson is a pretty sweet name though. hmmmmmmm. So adrug is the only one who has been chillin in there? Something about chatrooms isn't the same. You build up such a better library of info with forums. Would anyone be willing to moderate a subforum?

No way, there may be some of that, but it would be a place for veteran hunters to talk, and post pictures that don't necessarily have much to do with mush hunting. There arn't even enough people to fill it up with just weather talk. I can see why you wouldn't want to mod it though. But, there's gotta be someone out there who's perfect for the job.

Curecat the point would be for the hunting 'veterans' to have a place to chat about whatever they want instead of having ot post in the pube or OTD
Noobs would be annoying... I dont think the idea was every to let noobs talk about weather thats shitty.. Have you not read any of my posts? Ignoring me like usual?
It would be like the pube for hunters (because hunters tend to like talking with their own, but cant because of all the rules and restrictions) atleast thats how i think it would be in my head...

Noobs ask repetitive questions thats why i figured something like 100-200 posts they would wise up the rules before making dumb threads.
But its not going to happen because the mods are closed minded

Okay. I'm saying, the sub-forum CAN be for n00bs to talk about weather. And the veterans or WHOEVER can go an talk about whatever they want as well. I won't be in charge of sub-forum rules or conduct, i just want to keep the discussion that goes on in THERE out of HERE.

Nah you know what you should do,
Make a sub-forum for ID requests and then open this forum up a little to a bit more general conversation. Not pub conversation though, i mean seriously is it that hard to use the pub?
Sub-forum for ID requests only makes more sense.

the idea was that the hunting people (a kind of their own) would be able to post where other hunters would see instead of having to goto the pube or OTD (where hunters wouldnt see because the pube is gay and otd would flame them and tell them to gtfo)

for sure. That's one of the points. Hopefully it would lessen the amount of off topic stuff that gets posted in the main forum. There's plenty of people who read the rules of the hunting forum, but just can't help posting something off topic, because they don't know where else to post it. If it's slow for a while that's alright. I think eventually people will start to like it.
