ID Request - Sydney Australia

So I was over my mate's house and found these beauties growing in his front lawn. Also these pictures make the mushrooms look darker than they actually are.

Habitat: Frontyard. Grass. Near fence. Been raining A LOT recently.
Gills: Not at first visible... but when cap broken open, they appear to be a similar colour to the stem.
Stem: Whitish creamy
Cap: Brown
Bruising: On the stem? It looked as though it went a bit red.
Location: Western suburbs of Sydney, Australia
Thanks in advance if anyone can get an ID on these.

weird, it looks like a leathery texture on top eh? maybe some kind of strange lepiota, then again your an aussie., you should take a cross-section shot of those. and a spore print.

No chance of getting a pic with them opened up? how big are they.
If alan is right, of the macrolepiotas, they'd most likely be macrolepiota clelandii. I get a lot (and Chlorophyllums as well) in the local park after rain. I'll have a look and see if there are any young ones there and if they look like yours.

So I'm guessing they're definitely not active?

these look like the mushrooms i get in my thai soup. It's lemongrass soup mainly, bu this species is very similiar to the ones in my soup. I think the ones they add to my soup are agaricus. I'm not sure if these are, probably though.

This is macrolepiota clelandii when small. Looks lighter than yours although the form is the same.

Not sure, the guidebooks i have are unsure of its edibility. Its obviously also similar to M. procera or M. konradii which i've heard are edible?

I don't believe in mushroom violence, but I guess they'd make good golfballs if you didn't eat them. However, m. procera is supposedly choice. hmmmmmmm.
