Should I listen to Pink Floyd's "The Final Cut"?

I'm so weird about Pink Floyd. I started out only liking "Piper At The Gates Of Dawn" because I thought that the other albums were too "depressing" to trip to. But you might say that "PATGOD" was my "gateway Pink Floyd album" because I got to liking that album so well that I had to move on to "A Saucerful Of Secrets". Then that album turned me on to the post-Syd Pink Floyd style that I hadn't liked previously. From that point, I got into every other Floyd album up to "Dark Side Of The Moon" and maybe a little "Wish You Were Here". Then I downloaded "The Wall" but didn't listen to it much. Now, I really like "Wish You Were Here" and "The Wall" a lot.
So as of this moment, I love and appreciate every single solitary Pink Floyd album up to "The Wall". But I'm hesitant to take that step to "The Final Cut". Is it any good?

It's really well recorded...I don't see a reason why you shouldn't give it a shot. Yes, its a very depressing album, but I kind of like being depressed every now and again.
Don't go in expecting any album, because it really doesn't sound like anything they did earlier (besides the wall.)

oh, it's also a millions times better than anything that came after it. Roger had the fucking magic...not all of the magic, but a good deal of it. With him gone, it was pretty much over.

In my opinion they were great up to and including the Wall. After that, take what you can get from the rest.

Dude, listen to it. You may or may not like it, but I think that it is a very good album. It's obviously mostly written by Roger Waters, with little to no input from the other members of the band. It is a very depressing album though, probably their most depressing album. If you like Roger's solo albums, then you should enjoy this one. My favorite tracks are The Final Cut, The Gunners Dream, and The Fletcher Memorial Home.

I disagree with that somewhat. Roger was certainly the major drive in the band but there are a couple of worthy tracks on Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell is a really good album in my opinion.
Now, they are obviously no Animals, Wish You Were Here, Dark Side, Meddle, etc, etc etc. but they are still pretty good.

Take all your overgrown infants away... some... where And build them a home...... a little place of their own!
The Fletcher Memorial... home for incurable tyrants... and Kings.
Yea good album for sure. It may take you a few listens to get into it but it has some memorable tracks.

I like The Final Cut. It isn't any darker than The Wall, and it shares similar subject matter, tho I don't listen to any of PF's albums for the lyrics.
Curiously, A Saucerful Of Secrets and Piper At The Gates Of Dawn are both dark and depressing albums to me.

I'm not too familiar with The Final Cut so I can't say. You've heard Meddle though, right? I think it's possibly the most underrated Pink Floyd album.

Yeah Meddle is awesome. I also really liked Saucerful of secrets and Animals. Final cut isn't one of their best but its not bad

I think it's great, beginning to end...it feels to me at times like it could have been during recording sessions for The Wall. But maybe that's just me...
