there still about that size a little bigger but, the cap on 2 of the largest ones are breaking away fromthe stem and i can see the gills, is it abnormal for that to happen when they're so small? if not maybe im gonna have dwarfs because of the small amount of substrate?
i looked at alot of pictures and i cant find 1 with the cap breaking away so soon.
p.s. this is my first time ever fruiting too, so im unexperianced besides what iv'e read on here.

sometimes you get small ones..sometimes they are big. Just be happy you were successful for your first time. that's more then a lot of people get.

i am happy and really exited when i saw the first pin i was jumpin up and down, literally. im gonna assume you're sayin that it's normal for that to happen (with small mushrooms). thanks, i'll post again when the sub is spent, and i have a final outcome.

hard to say, probably a combination of those, could also be less then par fruiting conditions.
I'm sure the next harvest you'll do better

You wont get anything fruiting with straigh rye. You might get a few gimpy pins- if that. Grains need something thats hydrating and absorbing. Along with the spaceing between grains so they don't "rott" eachother. Grains take a long time to hydrate, and lose hydration at a fast pace, without another medium in the mix.
A simple way to make your grains into cakes is to take a colonized qt jar of grain. Take, say, eight half pint jars. Break up your grains however you like. Mix with three parts vermiculite; Pasturized, sterilized, or out o' the bag, it doesn't matter. Load the jars and let them run for a few days in the incubator. It shouldn't take more than a week, tops, before 100% colonization.
You can get many flushes this way; keeping em clean, hydrated and rolled in verm after each flush, you can keep them flushing for two months.

Thats totally normal- a small lil' chunk of medium giving off small fruits.
Think about how big those fruits would be, say relitive to their 'chunk' size, versus the size of a caseing- they would be much larger- their genes are still grovy.
I cloned this-

They did this-

Those lil' guys were my first fruits, ever- with my last chunk of a failed casing attempt, and no spore solution left.
Keep it up. You can never have to much mushroom dna laying around.

i picked everything and got about 2 grams dry maybe, i dont have a scale but i know it wasnt alot, i dunked the cakes and rolled them again theres already 2 pins on one cake, but anyway, i ate the small amount of shrooms i got from the first flush and trippd baallllls a level 4 experiance, it was a really nice trip untill i smoked some pot, then the fear and paranoia kicked in and everything went downhill for the night, oh well. but yea, they must have been really potent, by the way i let the caps open, so that myth about shrooms being more potent before the cap opens and veil breaks, is probably just a myth
E: it wasn't such a bad idea at all, to get some fruits and trip faster, i birthd 5 brf cakes and they still havnt fruited
