so one of my pf tek jars wasnt colonizing as fast as the other 7 . i opend the jar and cut off the colonized parts, washed off all the verm and brf that was around it and dunkd for about 30 hours, rolld in verm and put it in a small fruiting chamber 1/3 full of perlite, so yea.. i wonder if it will fruit. im really just eperimenting right now. anyone else done somthin like this? what do you think will happen?
is it even possible to get fruits or did i just waste a cake?

thats normal, after the dunk it takes a couple of days for the myc to re structure itself... you hsould be fine

I'm doing it with some rye jars right now lol
weird timing on the thread (the jars got botched because the heat here is absolutely f'ed) and I didn't re-calibrate the fish tank heater in the incubator.
but yea, you should be good to go, I'd case it though.

Hmm. Was it contamination that stopped it from growing, or overly wet substrate? I ask because I ruined most of my first-attempt jars with overly wet substrate, and no matter how I cut them, there was only ever about a 1/16th of an inch of mycelium anywhere.

no i don't think too much water ruined it or contams i think i didn't level the sub and dry verm spilled on one side and no myc was growing off a inoculation point

How do you keep screwing up? You sent me all those pm's talking shit to me and saying that I do not know what I am talking about and then you post all these rookie ass mistakes???

You must love bac and trich
Assuming no infection, the cake segment will probably still fruit, the only thing wasted was the potential substrate you discarded.

myc looks like its growing straight up in strands, I've never fruited before so I'm not sure if this is gonna be pins or just myc still growing. i would post a pic but i have a shitty camera phone that probably wont show, but ill take a few and try to get a shot w/o touching anything. in a few minits, when myc grows like that is it a sign its gonna fruit or just normal growth with no boundaries (jar walls/sub)

id guess eating cake mycelium is like eating sand.
but go for it. also I'm assuming your cake would take 2-3weeks to show growth as it's not fully colonized so full colonization + over a week as it was taken out of incubation.

If it just started throwing rhizo's off the recolonized surface in your FC than of course it won't show pins yet. No, don't eat the myc because A) it's PF tek and that would be fucking nasty, like flavoraid said more like eating sand. B) consuming mycelium is a waste of time, energy and spawn material. You can make a tea with a whole quart jar of fully colonized grain spawn and it will barely have enough actives to get you giddy.

I said 2-3 weeks from when you cut off the uncolonized parts.
