WBS + question?

After lot's of WBS tek reading, I started to do my own with ton's of help from another member of the site.:D But one thing that I have noticed is, that after PC'ing bird seed, then packing it into jars. I have a super problem with keeping the moisture content consistant. So the last batch of jars I made, I tried somthing diff. Using quart jars of WBS I added 1/4 cup verm to the mix. Do you think that this will make any diff???? My reason of thinking is, that if I can't keep the outcome of moisture in the WBS cons. the Verm. will help to hold moisture and the WBs will act as food. This was all pressure cooked together and was noc'ed with B+ LC. I know I tend to ramble After a couple of drinks and 12 hrs of work but my brain still don't shut down. Any way, thanks for any info given and Someday I'll learn to post pic's. Later Fishher's out!

i've heard of it being done, but i dont think it's necessary unless you just cant get the water content right..
make sure you soak for a day, simmer for a little while, then let them dry for a good hour or two before toweling them off, loading into jars, then PC'ing them. and wash/strain between each step until you let them dry.
that's what works for me..
what are you using for lids? are you foil sealing them prior to PC'ing?
i just use the 4-hole lids from the PFtek and foil seal them when i PC and then pull the foil off when i do a g2g and leave the four holes open..
ghetto, but it works.. plus i cant find more jars here anywhere.
works good for FAE too..
helps if you make your grains a little wet because it drys it out a little, but not too much.
shaking always helps even out the water content for me.. especially right after you pull em out of the PC.
i'm just sayin what works for me, might not necessarily be the best advice.
i wouldn't fck with verm, although i've seen it done..

I hope thats a typo.
Its best to master getting your water content right. I always shake the hell out of the WBS in a big colander after soaking. When I can't shake out any more drop of water, I load the jars and PC.

Yes that was a typo, I have been using Dock's WBS tek. to the Tee! For lids I'm using a 1 hole with polyfill center. After pulling from the PC, I give them a good shake then They go into the glove box. After givin a 1qrt. jar of 1.5cc. of LC they get shook again.

dunno and you said they're too dry?
if they're too dry, get them wetter before you PC them..
if they're too wet, get them drier before you PC them..
it depends on how they are before they go into the PC..
maybe switch lid style or something if they are drying out after you inoculate..
maybe try to cram more polyfill into that lid to keep moisture from escaping..

if you soak the wbs for 12-18 hrs rinse then simmer it for 20-30 mins until about 20% of the seeds have exploded then you let drain till only a couple drops come out of the strainer you should have perfect water content every time....just load into jars and PC
most of the tecs are very specific about the prep of the wbs...thats key to having the proper moisture content IMHO:)
