Two drug dealers who were caught in an undercover police operation with more than 13,000 ecstasy tablets were jailed on Monday for a total of 14 years.

Alexander Hancock, 27, of Mortlake, and Mariusz Glowaczewski, 31, from Gunnersbury and a successful cross-country skier in his native Poland, were also found in possession of 418 grams of cocaine and 882 LSD squares in the police sting.

Kingston Crown Court heard how cops caught the dealers after Hancock, of Ripley Gardens, had offered to supply an officer with drugs in a pub.

The undercover cop then made orders of a further 2,000 and then 3,000 ecstasy tablets with Hancock in March and April last year.

Prosecutor Lindsay Thompson told the court the pair were watched by the drugs squad as Hancock sold the officer the 3,000 pills for £1,950. The undercover officer later placed an order for 8,000 ecstasy tablets.

Hancock, who was then living in Ashchurch Terrace, Gunnersbury, went to Glowaczewski's home at Copperfields Court, and upon leaving was arrested with 8,600 ecstasy pills and 178 grams of cocaine in his rucksack.

Glowaczewski had to be subdued by cops with CS gas as he resisted arrest and threatened them with a carving knife.

More than £3,000 in cash, 1,119 ecstasy tablets, 235 grams of cocaine and 882 LSD squares were found in his flat.

A search at Hancock's Ashchurch Terrace property unearthed 468 ecstasy pills, 101 grams of pure cocaine and £1,900 in cash.

Gelaga King, defending Hancock, said his client started using drugs after being diagnosed with ME in his first year at university.

William England, defending Glowaczewski, said the father of one turned to the drugs trade because it was so expensive to support a family in the UK. Hancock was jailed for six years and Glowaczewski for eight years.

Judge Shani Barnes said Hancock, who by his own admission made £20,000 from dealing, was a "mid-level dealer capable of turning his hands to large amounts of class A drugs."
