Difficulties experienced on LSD

I have tripped on acid twice and both experiences were all in all positive. Colors, visuals, insightful thoughts abound. My friends and I for example dropped acid and then just talked and laughed for hours. However, a couple hours into my trip I have had distinctly similar symptoms that were disturbing and detracted from my overall experience. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
For example, I'll be listening to a friend speak. "The other day I went to the mall and..." Then, suddenly, as if I had blacked out while being awake, time will sort have had lapsed and I will zone back into the sentence... "So I've never bought french fries again from that place." I'll miss everything in between.
Its as if I will be totally absent from parts of a sentence, and have extreme difficulty understanding people speak and language all together. Even when I attempt to talk its incredibly difficult. I like tripping but I don't like the feeling of blacking out or struggling so hard to follow words that I feel like I can't talk or communicate. That makes me nervous. I can't remember anything during those times I've zoned out, its just like my mind is completely blank. Its scary. And then it only gets worse.
My friends noticed it twice also, that I sort of drift off into this state where I can't really reach them or vice versa.
I would characterize it as a bad trip at that point and would like to figure out how to deal with or avoid this.

The zoning out part happens to everyone. As far as it being a black out, I dont know. Sometimes when I trip I zone out and get lost in my head for a bit and not even realize there is anything around me at all. I cant say that ive ever blacked out, though. How much did you take?
Not being able to understand what people are saying and not being able to form words and sentences is pretty common, I guess, but more common on larger doses.

Ha ha ha, well I've had one of those trips but we were also smoke ridiculous amounts of reefer and then a chap came along and gave us a couple pot brownies.... gotta love festies.
I remember my friend and I were both so looped that we decided we needed to sit down and guard the fire... from what eludes me. We kind of drifted in and out of lucid conversation. And while it can be really frightening realizing that you and your companions aren't engaged in the same conversation I just look at it as part of the experience. When you've reached that point it's a good time to find your own space and stop trying to talk.

Same thing happens to me. Start of the trip is filled with insane laughter. Then after awhile, conversation becomes very difficult, and i fall into a kind of trance.

Zoning out and completely losing all awareness of anything around you is one of the best aspects! (for me)
Hell, i do it sober from time to time, and wish i could more. Comprehending reality is overrated.
