First Timer Grow Log - Mycobags

What's up trippers, here are some pictures from my covert operation. I am growing B+ in one bag and Ecuador on the other four, I placed a heating mat beneath them to maintain the temperature constant and high (not over 86 F). The contents of the bags are as follow: - white proso millets - vermiculite - milo - wheat - quinoa - spring water - fresh coffee grounds - calcium carbonate - brown rice flour - vitamin A supplement - vitamin D-3 supplement - vegetable oil
A good way for me to avoid people messing with my drawers is placing expensive stuff in front of them, lol. Also, a lot of wires help camouflage the conspicuous cord coming out of the drawer.

Here in Mush Cult we don't actually EAT the fruits of our labors so to speak. You want Psychedelic Experience, down the hallway and to the left . And unless you're room gets below 60 take them away from that heater pad and you won't have to worry about cords.

Huh? When did I mention anything about consumption? And I was under the impression that it was ideal to keep the shrooms at a warmish temperature during gestation.

"What's up trippers" . Just monkeyin' with ya. Surry. And warmish temperatures favor bacterias, which you obviously don't want, more than mycelium, which you do want. Room temp (70-75F) is fine for mycelium which is pretty hardy but harder for bacteria which likes warm damp places (like your arm pits or around your shower).

I wouldn't put a heating pad directly under the bags even if it was too cold. I would put a towel or something between the bags and the pad, otherwise you run the risk of nuking the substrate and drying the bags out. Also, higher temps won't cause contamination problems until they approach the 100F mark. Contams will thrive in the same conditions as myc, which are damp areas with little air exchange and food to eat. I'm not sure why people keep saying that applying heat causes contams. Tons of growers have been using TiT and other types of incubators for years without problems. I agree that it isn't neccessary, but it definitely speeds myc growth.

..I'm pretty sure ~82F is recommended for incubation. This guy has it a little warm but nothing too high.

Room temp for MycoBags. Everybody's right. They'll be fine.
A heating pad WILL dry them out.

Yeah, I've made that mistake before and burnt out a bag, last night I had my doubts about 'contaminations' because the bags are obviously pre-sterilized as was the injection site (with alcohol), syringes, surface area of where the inoculation was performed, and the drawer was cleaned out with chlorine and other disinfectants, the heating mat was cleaned too and I layered three just washed t-shirts on top of the mat so as not to apply the heat directly, instead heating up the whole drawer, as I know that it is very closeted and mycelium production produces a small amount of heat. So I decided to leave it on.
