When making tea...?

I know it's important to break them up and have an acidic component in there like lemon juice, but how important/detrimental is it to boil or heat the tea?
I've heard and read conflicting reports on this, and not much of any scientific explanation. Basically, to boil? Or not to boil?

Cooking is not necessary when performing a straight-to-base extraction because the lye is caustic enough to break it down.
Boiling it won't damage the psilocybin or psilocin in any way? I can believe that the psilocybin can survive it, but the psilocin, being much more fragile won't take a hit?

From my understanding the psilocin isnt as active as the psilocybin anyways...
Boil it at a lower temp, keep it at a boil but not a rapid extreme boil
That'd be my guess.. I never bothered to make mushroom tea, I'd always just rather eat them

dry em, grind em, then boil it til you see nothing but clear boiling water, filter (coffee filters) and drink
grinding and coffee filters arent a must but they make you get more out of them.
I just did this with 0.9 of standard mexicans and tripped hard (still tripping!) i can in no way see how eating them would have made me trip any different, apart fomr feeling sick of course.
Ps Volcano vapouriser is amazing. I AM the weed

Yea, that didn't seem to make much sense to me.
I would assume boiling it on a very low boil in acidic water (with say some lemon juice) would do the trick.
Also, boiling water makes it evaporate, especially if you boil it on high. I would hate to loose some of that precious psilocybin to evaporation.

I always grind up my mushrooms or break into small pieces andput in a cup. Then boil the water and pour over the mushrooms, cover up your cup with a pan or something to keep the heat in. Then I wait 10-20 minutes, strain out the mushrooms and drink. I've never noticed a loss in potency. I'd recommend making some regular tea and mixing half and half after the 20 minutes which will overpower the taste and it'll taste just like regular tea, otherwise it tastes very mushroomy.
edit: I've never used lemon juice, though I suppose it couldn't hurt, but it's certainly not necessary.

Sorry. I've been talking about cactus so much, I didn't see the shroom.
For mushroom tea, combine powdered shrooms with the contents of a tea bag (and optionally a dash of lemon powder) in a cup. Add boiling water and let steep for 15 minutes. Filter. The heat doesn't affect it noticably. Same basic answer as krypto's.
Try making psychedellic chai. The spices and honey seem to mask it quite well.

Boil til clear:
When you boil the shroomz youll notice a white froth coming out someitmes lots (stonrg shroomz) sometime little (weak), as soon as that dissapears stop boiling.
This froth/strength ratio has always worked well for me, if i see lots of froth i KNOW im gonna trip hard.

I tried the steeping method with pan cyans, I did notice the frothing at first, but I mostly kept the cup covered. Even with lemon juice and honey, the tea still tasted like a pure mushroom stock.
....it worked.
