Mycelium tea success(?) story
    #7993101 - 02/07/08 06:42 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

A friend recently cultivated 12 pf style jars of mushrooms. Unfortunately he had only seen the original PF tek when innoculating and the mixture in 11 out of the original 12 was far too wet. As such the mycelium only colonized the outer portions of the cakes.

Once more educated, the one good cake and one of the not-so-good cakes were placed in the FC. The too-wet cake had (what he believed) the uncolonized portions cut off as an experiment. The rest were crumbled into trays of Coir and coffee for a bulk grow.

The cake in the FC developed hyphal knots but would not pin. So, when the bulk trays were ready for the FC my friend removed the bad cake and decided to make tea with it.

Combining the two common methods, he ripped it up and put it into a pot of boiling cranberry juice. It turns out that the mycelium only ever colonized the very outer layer, and it would never have fruited, so no loss there.

The "tea" tasted quite good after straining. A fairly intense level 2 trip ensued, where despite the small amount of mycelium consumed, a state of intense euphoria and slight visuals lasted at least 3 hours.

All-in-all, a good experience!
