I started 12 jars about a week and a half ago, three of them picked up growth very quickly. Well at least I think its myc, since its only my second grow. two of the three had obvious contams even too me,green color with rapid growth so i tossed them, but the one that is almost solid white started to get two little brown spots on them, its like the color at the end of cigarette but after its been smoked, and i cant tell if their contams, im keeping an eye on them but does neone have ne input, sorry no pics. both spots are prob about half a centimeter if not smaller, could this be bruising.

pics?
you sure do have a lot of questions/problems, dude..
maybe you're not cut out for mushroom cultivation?
maybe try to work on your sterile techniques and you might have better success?
post your pics and i'll help ya out but it doesn't sound like bruising at all to me.. i dont see why it would be bruised either.

Lol, not cut out to grow mushrooms. I didnt even know that could be determined within the middle of week 2 on a second attempt. I think that would be throwing the towel in a little early. But anyways ive asked a lot of questions in preperation to my first attempt. It failed because i had my temps too high, by using an innacurate thermometer during incubation. So now i am on attempt number 2, I already have thought of a few places where i could have went wrong. For instance I used pre sterilized substrate jars and some of them appear to have lost alot of moisture. I am going to get a PC and find brown rice flour rather than making my own, for my next attempt. My point is im still barely experimenting and if I understand correctly exerimentation is supposed to be a big part of mushroom cultivation, that is until I find the methods for sterilization and other procedures which work well for me.

For more info i took the lid off the jar after spraying the room with lysol and waiting a couple minutes. Probably a bad idea but had too out of curiousity, well the cake was mushy, i poked it with a q tip, I doubt thats supposed to happen. I think its the cobweb contam i have read about, because it like grow all over the jar withing a couple of days and its white.

you dont really need a PC for BRF/PFTEK.. that's mainly for grains.
although it's better and a good idea to get one if you have the means...
otherwise, keep on the lookout for a cheap one.
and you need to provide more more FAE, not just lower the humidity..
high humidity is great, but you need FAE to go along with it.

if you got presterilized jars and they have contams, call the company and tell them and demand a refund or replacement..

Alright thanks for the information. I probably should try to get ahold of them and do somthing of the sort. I cleaned my inoculation area with clorox clean up, I let it sit for a couple of minutes before wiping it up. I then flame sterilized the needle before each jar and wiped it well with 91% alcohol, i also kept adding alcohol to the napkin to keep it wet. So i dont think that i did anything wrong when it came to inoculation, but I will probably make a glove box to further help the fight on contams.

Good job on getting the Glove box thing going. The brown tar looking stuff could be metabolites. You shouldn't have to worry about FAE at this point in the game. You want "gas exchange", not "Fresh air exchange". If your doing the PF tek, then loosen up the jar lid a bit and keep the foil loose. You do have foil on the jars right? You should be alright. Pics of that brown area would be helpful.
