Cased too early?
    #7992691 - 02/07/08 05:04 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

I'm afraid I cased too early. Last night I patched one small spot where mycelium was growing through my 50/50 casing and put it into the fruiting chamber. It's been 24 hours and theres no sign of mycelium on the casing layer. Did I fruit too early? If so should I put it back into incubation or just leave it?

you can keep it in the fruiting chamber, and just cover it up with some aluminum foil. That's what I do.

True, but you shouldn't be 'incubating' anyway. Many growers simply apply the casing layer and put directly into fruiting conditions. Others wait for some mycelium to pop through first. Patching is optional but can lead to a better pinset. However, failure to do the latter won't result in failure, just not quite as much product as you might otherwise get.

I'm not really "incubating". I keep my jars in a sterlite tub. Also I keep a space heater running in the room. It's winter. Temperatures only average 72-75. Thanks for the info man.
