A message to those of us who trade.

Just wanted to remind all of us that make prints and/or syringes to trade here or at the Marketplace of the importance of BEING STERILE! It's easy to get "sloppy" in our technique in an effort to get a print or syringe out to a fellow shroomerite. These are pictures of a Orrisa India syringe that was traded with me. Keep in mind that I used 3 drops on agar.

Fortunately All it took was 3 drops, 3 days and a petri dish to make this discovery. This could have easily been 12 quart jars lots of grain,(not to mention the time to prep and PC the grain), and about 10-14days to make this awful discovery. So, please be as sterile as possible and read all the print/syringe making teks before you embark on production.
These are pics of a "Clean" Equador print on agar. See the nice pretty mycelium.;) (Although not as rhizomorphic as I'd like, but nonetheless, contaminant free!

Clean is nice, but you should always be using agar when starting from spores to obtain mono-cultures after a few plates. (Just MHO) t helps prevent the uncertainty of that process.
I do appreciate the fact that you didn't embarass or harass anybody by pointing fingers. Doesn't seem to go that way much anymore.
Oh, and be glad that at least you have a culture. Especially Orissa!

I really must go to the lab and swipe some supplies.
They give me the agar and last time I went even a sleeve of petri dishes.

No, I would never embarrass someone. I do realize that it's always somewhat of a gamble when trading with others. I'm not even mad! Fortunately I have the resources to work with some more advanced methods of cultivating. I just feel for those that have to go through the entire process and fail. Then they post threads like, (What went wrong?) Granted, lots of times it's failure due to their poor sterile procedures, but they should at least be afforded a clean specimen to work with. I know that when I make prints, I do my absolute best to provide a clean print. I will usually test one out before making the decision on using the batch of prints for trade.

i posted my first offering a few days ago. offering... not asking anything in return but feedback. if enough people are successful without contamination then ill start trading. got to make sure what i am doing will work for others even though it works for me.

sorry to stray away form the ops post but how long does it take to get into the market place i don't remember? for reasons i would rather not mention i had to make a new account (no i didn't get banned my old account is still running (apacheshaman)).
but to the op, yes Ive been in this situation before where i did everything perfect but the person didn't exactly make a good syringe and it screwed it all up. but i recently met someone who does a great job with it.

all traded prints and syringes should be considered unsterile. i've never put traded spores on anything but agar.

That's what I was trying to say to Shroomy1 in my first post (up top). I've never understood why anybody would choose to use a multispore culture for anything except an experiment/scientific purposes. Obviously, there things to be learned from that type of grow. But as far as I've seen, there's no real advantage to the operational grower.
