Reeferaddict- I watched season one of Dexter over the past couple days and there was a scene where he was at a hotdog stand and they panned over a shot of that hotdog putting ketchup on his head. and it has REALLY been bothering me b/c I kept thinking to myself "where have I seen that hotdog before?"

Cool writeup OMR.
Also, I'm curious as to what the proprietor himself was like. Just kinda wondering what sort of dude would set this kind of thing up.
This is definitely something I could go for I think.
Too bad I live in a pretty barren location for things like this.
Either way, you've made me want to try it for myself.

Excellent read. I love isolation tanks.
I think a lot of people have a huge misconception about meditation in general. It doesn't have to be sitting in the lotus position humming mantras. Meditation is the art of practicing focusing the mind. That's all it is. Focusing your concentration, so that you.. the owner of your consciousness, may control it at will, with the preciseness of a laser beam. Meditation may simply be any time you turn your thoughts inwards to 'focus' your concentration on any particular thought or thing. It is a simple act of focusing will, and you know what they say.. practice makes perfect. In that regard it can be practiced, anytime, anywhere. Something as simple as the act of collecting your thoughts at the end of the day could be described as meditation. There are just many different avenues one may approach the focusing of the mind, which makes it very dynamic.
But I think isolation tanks give the best environment for that. After all, the "zen masters" would state that ultimately the "goal" of meditation is to be able to focus on one thing, and hold it in your mind without being distracted. In an isolation tank, external distractions are about as minimal as possible.. leaving only the self.. so that gives the utmost room to focus on the mind. Wasn't that what Terrence McKenna was referring to with "5 grams in silent darkness"? Same difference, in my opinion. It is to be alone with oneself.. and one who is in complete control of their own thoughts, is the master of their reality, for thoughts create reality (which is subjective). The better our relationship with ourselves, the better our relationships are with other people. As below so above and so on.

You're a talented writer...I enjoyed reading your report very much. I also think that you would find MDMA quite wonderful.

i liek the little aside you added about him and tha hara chakra or "gut brain"
there was a guy on the colbert report a few months back who had alot to say about the gut as a mind.
its pretty much just fueled by gravity. your brain does not need to tell it what to do at all
the flow of energy is always fasinating to read about
good show

That sounds like a very awesome experience indeed. I've never been able to "meditate" other than while doped up on opiates but I don't know whether or not you'd consider that meditation. So yeah this definitely sounds like something I'd like to try for myself some day.

Sounds pretty sweet, I'll have to try one sometime... I never can meditate though, my mind is always too distracted.

I'm engaged to be married too! But My lady still has to get mostly naked in front of a guy for her next tattoo. I cant very well be like, "No more tattoos for you!!"
just gotta have some degree of trust, maybe build a relationship with the dude with the tank so its not just some random stranger, or have your boy do it first so he can see how cool it is.
yeah, I was just playing with hyperbole there for a bit - as a matter of fact, hubby to be isnt the jealous type at all - it was just funny at the time .

Interesting writeup, I would like to try a Isolation tank, but it seems like too much trouble to find one and go out to the place. Besides, I like being surrounded by friends while experiencing most psychedelic experiences. I might try it in the future though. Here is a list of places that have them if anyone is interested http://www.floatation.com/wheredetails_usa.html#USA

Yeah it's hard meditating, when you're on the shroomery 23 hours a day!
