Help with my Pedro Tek

I have read a lot of the teks for the alcohol prep, but each with a little variance. Does this sound about adequate:
1: Cut pedro into one inch thick pieces to show the star formation.
2. Let pieces air dry.
3. Blend dry pieces into a powder.
4. Cover powder with 99% iso alcohol.
5. Shake every so often for 3 days. Strain.
6. Repeat a couple more times for maximum enjoyment.
7. Let strained liquid dry to reveal a powder.
8. Enjoy.
Does that sound suitable to everyone?

That's a start anyway... though for reasons of solubility and evaporation speed methanol would be better than iso. Even ethanol (95+%) would probably be better than iso.
Other thing to consider is how are you going to figure dosage from the powder? Might be worth an acid/base cleanup of the product from this tek, so you could know your dose.

This sounds like a good way to do Trichocereus cacti.

in regards to the ethanol versus iso...
I was under the impression that the iso will dry completely leaving a powder, whereas the ethanol will not fully dry, leaving a tar. Is that accurate?

I think your right....
Cause everclear (ethanol) will have a little water in it...
But why does it matter?

For most it probably doesn't, but I would prefer a powder for ease of transport and storability.
i have read about people rolling their tar in flour, but that doesn't seem like something I would be interested in.

I might be missing something on this but say if he only powders one 12" cactus or whatever size he wants to dose. Wouldn't all the tar from that cactus = 1 dose? Or does the alcohol extract get a lot more mesc out than the normal boiling it down into a tea.

I can attest to this. It's not so bad if you're at home. What you do is roll the tar into little balls (with flour) and freeze 'em. Then you can take them like pills. But if you have to travel at all, it melts/softens into a huge mess.
