Density of Fruits. BRF Tek vs. Spawn to Bulk

So, on this last grow, I noticed something, and I think I noticed it only because I did a side by side grow from the same MS syringe.
I inoculated 12 half pints of BRF/Verm with the same spore print that 6 Jars of WBS was inoculated with. The WBS was spawned to Straw/Coir/Coffee in 5 inches of substrate.
The Fruits from the BRF cakes were nice and thick and meaty, and when dried, they retained their shape and nice color....
The fruits from the trays with the straw/coir/coffee grew bigger fruits than the cakes, They were taller with slightly larger caps. But when they were dried, they shriveled to almost nothing, and were very dark in color....
Has anyone a theory on this?

It's funny how that works. I'd like to see anyones theory as well. I've noticed it go both ways in the same monotub as well.

It's from multispore. Different strains emerged from each inoculation. That's why I've long said the name on the print or syringe means far less than people give it credit for. RR

Think it has anything to do w/ growing conditions at all?

I have do disagree that it's simply gentics. All 12 pf style cakes had really dense fruits that shrunk very little after drying and all 3 trays had nice sized fruits that shrunk to nearly nothing after drying.
If those are traits are based only on odds from a multi-spore syringe, then I should be in Vegas right now.

Perhaps the pf cakes were dryer and the bulk was wetter? Temperature can also make a difference. Fruits grow denser in cooler temps. RR

The cakes were definitley more dry than the bulk.

I'm thinking temperature has a factor. More mycelium packed closer together (dense fruits) would provide more warmth organism to organism in a cool environment.
