shrooms don't make problems go away, but might give insight in what is the problem, which could help. Still this doesn't heal anything, changing things about yourself it hard work, there's no easy way. tripping while feeling depressed is, ofcoarse, a BAD idea since tripping amplifies feelings!! Don't underestimate it.
are you depressed because of social problems or..?
you're being kind of vague here, in the title you talk about social problems and in your post about depression. please elaborate so we can give proper answers

yeah we all want that, but that isn't the way it works
mushrooms may help you understand it, but don't expect that you are all knowing about yourself after just one trip. Also the dealing with your problems is after the trip, so you're back on your own then.
A shroom trip can be helpfull in understanding, though it isn't always easy to get out what you want.
The easiest way to help you understand/get insight in your problems is to talk with a psychologist about it, and I think that a few conversations like that would be more helpfull than a dose of psychedelics, especially if you're not experienced. So if you don't want to run away, give that a try
I'm recommending against shrooms as a solution here, because you think it is (from whaat I've read), and it's not. It's much easier to have someone point out certain things for you then spot it by yourself, even on shrooms! Also in a conversation you happen to be in a social setting, your problem area, so that sounds best.

I don't think mushrooms will help you on this one, you need to identify what exactly the problem is, are you scared to socialise, scared to go out and meet people. Then go and talk to a decent psychologist.
My way of dealing with it is that i find the source of my problem, and ask myself what exactly is making me feel like that, is in my mind or is it external, then i tend to face the problem and usually come to the realization, that in the end, it doesnt matter, this problem is usually something created within my mind, sort of a wall.
The wall is a false barrier created by something in your mind, a fear of something, facing that fear can help you out. One step at a time.

if you already know what the problem is there are two ways to go -learn to accept it -solve it
in the video the psychedelic therapies were carefully guided by psychiatrists or psychologists. having a trip by yourself is something else
I'll quote my own reply

Forget psychologists, drugs etc...only YOU can free/heal yourself, psilocibin can make you realise true nature for an short while, unless you are very experienced with psilocibin and can carry the insights with you, your very question shows me your not experienced with them.
Only YOU can truley heal yourself.
The fact you are in a fragile state of mind means, i could no way suggest you take shrooms.

Ive said it before ill say it again, Psychedelics especially shrooms and dmt are great tools for introspection. If you are committed you can find out why you have problems and fix them later. Or you find out that your "problems" arnt really problems at all but just abnormal which isn't bad. There is a problem within todays culture to label the abnormal as disorders, especially in the academic and psychiatric communities. Dont fall victim to this your "problems" are what make you an individual, they add to your creative nature, embrace them for it is true self acceptance that leads to peace not changing to fit in.

Do not take psychedelic drugs if you are feeling the way you do in the first post. They will probably not help and may just amplify your thoughts on the subject.

True but sometimes you have to face your problems head on to solve them. If you are SUICIDAL in any way I suggest you DO NOT take psychedelics.

I suppose that Psilocybian mushrooms can help a person suffering from depression. But in a very mysterious and unexplainable (and most importantly, seemingly counter-active) fashion at times. That loose theory might best be applied to people who use recreational drugs often, and probably the more often (or times) a person consumes these mushrooms the effects for positive change lessen, while at the same time a persons understanding of the experience becomes clearer. In the very few clinical studies with Psilocybin containing mushrooms, people consuming them for the first time claimed it was one of the most rewarding and profound experiences of their lives. I tend to believe that is strangely (and unexplainably) untrue in a very, very, vaguely understood way. I just have a hunch about that after eating a zillion shrooms. And that theory usually does not go over so well within the psychedelic community.
To me a life changing experience is giving birth. Falling in love. Going to your daughters graduation day when she recieves a Phd. Getting into a car crash. Being arrested. Or if you want to get right down to it, eating a peanut and butter jelly sandwich will probably make a persons day just as good as eating a shroom would.
Shrooms can teach a person well about how to care for and better understand the Earth (that is where they grow).
Depression is a tough one to figure out. I am not certain if a effective treatment really excists for it. Personally I would recommend a person who is depressed to get off of those psychiatric medicines (SSRI's) (or whatever a doctor is giving you) and use as little to no drugs and alcohol as possible. And it is well known that depression does go away for some people. I do not understand if there is a actual cure for such a thing though.. sadly, depression is a natural human experience, sometimes persisting for many years.
Social problems.. start talking with every one you can. Any one who is around you at least say hi or something. Easier said then done for some people, but, being social is a skill, learn it.
But enjoy your trip, really, anything can happen.
