Hey this is one of my first posts here but I'm no stranger to the boards and articles. I started 4 BRF cakes with hawaiian and B+ a month ago and they are about 100% colonized and I still have some hawaiian and PR in syringes. Would it be okay to use the lazy mofo bag tek for three of the brf cakes then dunk and fruit the whole bags after full colonization just using a simple vermiculite casing layer and put in perlite fc? then use the remaining cake and spore solutions for the karo LC tek making ~6 LC jars. I'm very limited on funds, but i do have access to a lab so if there is anything that will be able to maximize yields with keeping the cost of supplies low please let me know how(I do not own a PC but have access to autoclave).
Here are some pics of my current LC after almost 4 days and a couple of almost (95%) colonized pf jars.

Alright here is the LC only 4 days should i be seeing colonization in the Karo? I used karo with boiling hot water then just covered with saran/lid/saran(2x)/aluminum foil immediately after pouring the water, I haven't seen an actual tek just a post some one put up, I'm afraid if its cobweb or some other contaminant because it appeared about 1 day after innoc., I searched threads its really kinda ambiguous w/out pictures and most of them say to throw it out, maybe they need to be tested? you tell me:

how safe is it to post pictures on this site?

I should probably add that I'm in the process of getting a biology degree and have taken some botany classes although none of them concentrating on fungi but I have a good deal of education in genetics and chemistry and lab techniques, are there any short cuts or anything that I can do? this will be the last time/only time I will ask.

Don't make your LC from spores.
Use agar to make an isolate and then add that to your LC. The results will be much faster and better.
Or clone a fruit.

damn I already did two LC's of hawaiian using spores I hope this won't affect it too much, next time I'll use a fruit body, thanks for the tip.

wow thats an awesome idea i never thought of that, did you case that then just burn the holes for the polyfil? I might try that with my cakes this time.

Yup. The only reason I stopped doing these was because they can be a pain sometimes to harvest. They become so massed together that you tear the fruits AND the sub harvesting.

im fine with that i will have plenty of jars to play with once my LC is done in a couple weeks, it looks to be extremely space efficient if i use racks in my FC, maybe even multiple layers of Perlite?

If you do it that way you don't need a FC, the lid makes a self contained FC. The polyfill allows for free air exchange and the casing layer keeps the humidity up. Just don't open it until you are ready to harvest.

Not knocking it, just want to ask a question. It's not very tall. Do the fruits just lay over?

Yeah. I dont mind anyone "knocking" it, after all it WAS a cheap thing I was fooling with. Yes, the fruits did lay over. What you do is put the main light source at one end, so all the fruits lay in a controllable pattern.

yeah i was thinking that the sides need to be taped over pre polyfil so all of the fruits go up to the light and not to the sides. LC's are doing pretty nice, im about to wrap my incubator in a blanket so it should colonize faster, I will have some pics of it up in a bit. (edit: pics are up top)
