so i finally decided to get a Salvia plant, it came in the mail today, it's rooted and came in perlite and was i fair shape when i opened the box. so i proceeded to pot it in some potting soil with some extra perlite. put it in the greenhouse under fluoros and left. about 5 hours later i came home to see it's all droopy and actually fell over. so i staked it and am desperately posting this. what to do?!

I just got mine about a week ago same thing. Just do some research. I took a clean water jug and cut the bottom off put some holes in it and placed over top and misted with a very fine mist about twice a day and she perked rite up looks great

i use to line cardboard with plastic tape and use it as a chamber, you can see in my old pic that the water is all over the sides of the box from the humidity being at 100% and i found that my plants grew best like that but it becomes a pain to have it that high all th time but you will want to raise it for he time being to get her healthy looking

I think it was the change in environment coupled with the shock of repotting. i awlays suggest to people that they hold off on repotting until the plant has adapted. Even if your new soil is wet theroots are not always taking in water as quickly as it is being lost through its leaves. Usually puttng the plant back in a humidity tent is the answer to all problems of this nature.

repotting is a huge shock to plants.. only repot druing cold days or in the avo/night

you can cut a 2L pop bottle off at the bottom and place it on top, works well for a temp sitation. you can also unscrew teh lid to allow airflow as need be.

i told you, you were going to have to supplement humidity and not just have it in your greenhouse =] it still looks alive tho, if it is you should see in the morning for sure

after it's acclimatized and more established it can live w/o a humidity tent right?

Yeah when you get it, it needs to be slowly adjusted to the lesser humidity conditions, like putting a bag over the pot, thats what I did. Now it just lives in my room looking great I noticed if the soil gets too dry they go all droopy literally in a few hours!

how long between waterings depends on the room humidity. If you put a sally in a green house for shiitakes you might not have to water it at all, althow such high humidity is hard on it and may or may not adjust
also when winter comes around your humidity may plumet and you'll have to tent it again.
