Check this pic out, looks to me like little specs of myc bloomin'... Looks like little round balls with micro fibers sprouting out in 360deg, is it healthy or it is something that shouldn't be there? I knocked these up on Monday Feb 4th with ms syringe of equador from sporeworks. Thanks for taking the time to give me your thoughts.

very nice.
If I even make it to the FC stage I'll be excited... baby steps.
I'm actally doing some new WBS jars in he Pc now for an "experiment" inoc.
I'm only using 2" of WBS in 2 jars and 4" in 2 more. Going to finish off the leftovers of a PE syringe that I used for some BRF pints that are slowly but surely movin along..

Yeah I ordered the $10 specials on sporeworks, they send you two B+ starins at random, I recieved Penis Envy and Equador.
All I know about them are PE is a small yield strain and Equador suposedly has a bigger yield with a beginners level of cultivation so seems like I got some right up my alley.
Once I learn how to print or whatever I definetly don;t mind shipping em in trade, sounds good.

This is the 1st and only BRF jar I've tried. As a "test" run.
It's been about 10 days since I injected with a multispore syringe of penis envy in 4 holes. The whiteys started showing up by every inoc point, now it's damn near spread over the entire uppper half of the jar but not moving south much, check out these 2 pics, of the same jar, and let me know what you think please.
one side.. do yu think I need to flip the jar over (co2) ? [image] [/image]
other side.. doesnt the myc look "thin" as you can almost see the sub through it?
[image] [/image]
As you can see this is the same jar 4 days ago..

looks like your mycelium may not be the strongest in that BRF jar, thats one of the risks with MS. It will likely colonize eventually but it may be slow, thats why grain is preferred because you can shake it when it gets to this point and mix up the mycelium and get a boost. afoaf had BRF jars that took 3 or 4 times the amount of WBS jars to fully colonize.
looks like you already have grains going, i would stick with that. looking good

The BRF jar was my 1st ever. Just to see what's up. Then I did 6wbs jars which show tic-tac sized specs around the jars, mostly around the bottom edges.
Then I had about 2cc of PE left so I did 2 more wbs jars but only 35-40% full (of seed) as some kind of experiment and used 1cc per jar to see if they'd colonize quickly.
Now that I have jars going Im getting impatient (bored) as I either wait to have to start over (contams) or move to the next tep so I have something else to learn about.

Lost one to green mold. Checked the 6 WBS pints last night, looked this afternoon and one had light fuzzy green mold over the seeds. The other 5 have really white and fluffy areas of myc, but moving slowly as far as coverage, been 8 days. Another jar has a tiny spec of green close to the lid, I moved it away from the others and it'll probably croak too.

The grain is looking pretty good.
You must consider the grains as larger inoculate points. They usually colonize this way. If you were to use straight millet, it would have been less noticeable since you have much smaller, yet much more inoculate points.
Take your BRF for example. It's basically sand, yet there is little air between each particle. The mycellium starts growing like a mat right off.
With the grain there is a bit of air between each piece of grain. Notice that not all are colonizing one by one. Some are colonizing in chunks since that's just where the mycellium decided to take off in a more tightly bound spot.
The BRF and the Grain look really good. Keep them incubating and you'll have fully colonized jars soon.
I make grain jars with a slight mixture of dry Vermiculite to make sure moisture content is perfect (I followed Scatmanrav's technique ages back).
So I went from this:

To this:

Spire, thanks fr the input.
You don't think the layer of myc on the brf to appear thin? Don't let the picture fool you, when you look at it live it almost sems ike you can seethe substrate through the mycelium layer...

Oh and I forgot to mention. As a test I did 2 pints of WBS, but instead of using the method I used on the previos 6, I just let soak for <24hours and let strain for <10 and its been 5 days and only a needle tip size piece of myc on bottom of 1 glass as opposed to the previous 6 showing myc pretty quickly, about 4 days?
