That's basically the stance I've taken...
The loop-hole allows responsible low-key drug users to remain psedo-legal and out of the reach of the law...
While more foolish, profit driven "dealers" would be arrested.

It's immoral to tell someone what they can or cannot do with their own body and mind!! Any law making drugs illegal is an immoral law. All drugs should be legalized!!
People have fought hard for their right to be homosexuals, to kill themselves (suicide is still illegal in my country!), womens lib, etc... No one, no person or government, has the right to tell me what I cannot do with my own body and mind. I will not obey such laws.
In my country (the Netherlands) the government is about to make shrooms illegal. And there's way too little protest. Why are people so eager to surrender their fundamental rights?

while it may be immoral, at the end of the day homo sapiens is not really the brightest bulb in the chandeleir, and there will always be people who find new and exciting ways to kill themselves.. that in and of itself I have no problem with, call it darwins law at its best but the trouble comes when they endanger others with their acts, and that happens each and every day as we all know. as much as I would truly love to see certain controlled substances legalized in america I truly don't see it happening anytime soon for one simple reason, their "war on drugs" is BIG BUSINESS! think about it, if you have this source of an insane amount of revenue, this industry that was at one point relatively small that has been inflated immeasurably by some clever work in congress, are you really going to be in a hurry to lose it? even a sizable part of it? do a little research and see how many prisons have been built in the last 20 years. now check out the number of people in those prisons on posession charges, even possession with intent due to the amount of controlled substance(s) they were found in posession of. in theory legalizing "drugs" sounds great, but there will always be the leroy jenkins of the world to serve as posterchildren for the "war on drugs".. wanna help get things set right? sterilize your local idiots I'm a lifetime member of NORML so you know where my heart is, I'm also a realist though and I just don't see it happening.

This thread has been closed.
Reason: FarFromHere, this isn't exactly the right forum for this post. Better options would have been: Drug Policy Forum (sub-forum of the Politics forum), The Pub, OTD, or your Journal.
This thread also borders on trolling when you come out declaring "such and such drug is bad!! it's bad!! stop doing it!!" Please use this forum for discussion pertaining to the psychedelic experience, not polarizing drug users into opposing camps based on your own personal preferences.
