Bruising, alkaloid content.

Does the blue bruising have anything to do with alkaloid content? Meaning--I've had 'shrooms that bruise blue if you look at them wrong, and I've had 'shrooms that when you cut them they barely blue. They all go into the "'shroom box" when dried so I haven't had the opportunity to check myself. Anyone have some insight?

i know the multispore i made has intense bluing on it so far.. like very intense.. excited to see how that's gonna affect it.

Reason I'm asking, it makes it easier to decide what to try to clone. That is if easy blue bruising has anything to do with potency.

Bruising has to do with oxidation of active compounds, but it has never been a means to adequately assess the potency of a strain, much less a specific mushroom.

Is there any way to assess the potency----besides giving it a go? And what are the active compounds which are bluing on oxidation? If you were able to ensure the compounds were available to the growing 'shroom, would it help it be a better fruit?

I've never noticed a correlation. Some of the best didn't bruise at all. In addition, there's non-active species that bruise. RR

Bruising is not a good indicator of potency.
