Alder Broth, Tan Malt, Crystals in lc??

This is weird. I had to post this here because if I posted it in mush cult I would get a hundred idiots saying that it carmelized without knowing why it did if it did.
I boiled up some alder chips to get them saturated and i decided to use some of the let over water/broth in a wood lover liquid culture. I took 250ml of this broth and added it to 250ml of water. I added .5 grams of tan malt and pc'ed it for 20 mins at 15psi.
So this is my normal recipe for lc's minus the addition of the broth. 500ml water:1/2 gram of powdered malt. I looked at it today and it has flat/platelet like crystals in it. I am no chemist but does anyone know if there is something in the wood that would cause the malt to form crystals? When I swirl the lc it sort of looks like water the is just on the verge of freezing, kind of like an ice cold beer right after you crack it open and it starts to freeze.
I will try to get it on film

LOL. Might just be sugars crystallizing. I wouldn't worry about it.
Sometimes I find that filtering the solution prior to autoclaving helps. Otherwise your solution should only be around 1% sugars, so it shouldn't be sweet enough to crystallize normally. Perhaps there are also a lot of denatured proteins in the mix. You wouldn't expect that with wood, but who knows.

it was filtered and only 1/2 gram of malt. I never get caramelization with just water. Maybe something in the alder caused the malt to caramelize
