ok i just thought i would share the way i dry my mushies works well. its very fast and cheeap and all materials are available with 1 trip to ur local mega store. and u are able to dry ALOT at a time fairly quickly. i borrowed this form Alton Brown-Good Eats Season 9 Episode 3 the important part is about 1 and a half in
materials needed 1)a box fan 2) two bungee cords 3) 2 or more furnace filters(not fiberglass)
in this episode he uses the dry er for jerky. i have also used it for drying herbs and fruit. if you want ill post some pics but if watch the video it will show u exactly how to do it. The video also has a good explination as to y u shouldnt use dehydrators. i usualy just do 1 or 2 layers and in 24 hrs they r pretty much completely dry. this will depend on the R.H. of the area u r using to dry in. after 24 hr i put a super basic desiccant chamber to get them cracker dry, but u could just leave them in the dryer for an extra day or 2 but by then i usually have more to go in so i just use the desiccant chanber.

I just sting them up with fishing line in the furnace room. Kinda like making popcorn garland for the Christmas tree. They dry in a day or two, haven't had any problems, cracker crisp. But summer's on the way. Thanks KuntJoose, I like it. Alton Brown does some cool shit.

i no alton is the man. i used to use dehydrators and a had to use a little heat to get any drying done and 1 day i was just sittin there watching Good Eats and he whipped out the BlowHard 4000 at first i didnt think anything of it then i whent to check on my harvest only to see not much had change and then it hit me. I was just like omg this could be monumental, no longer would i worry about being able to dry it all if it got to hot or how long till they spoil. after switching to this method i noticed marked improvement in potency vs the 1s dried in a dehydrator. and i just the fact that it is super cheap makes this just about the best option available. i hope others will find this useful

i put in a dry place with a small fan on them, nothing advanced, has its limitations for sure.
what desiccant do you use?

i usually bought a big "milk carton" of damprid but i cant find them any more so now i just buy these pretty cheap about $2-$3 a piece and 1 is enough to finish about 8oz or more. just remember to empty the collection area when adding more desc.
i always take them apart and empty all the desc out into a ziplock and flip the little strainer thing upside down and put a little back in
i place that in a tupper ware cake tub with a small muffin fan(computer fan).
the lid is very air tight when used inverted
i use a variable power supply for the muffin fan. i put a hole right in the container to run the power cord thru and sealed it with silicone.
u can fit about 4-5oz pre dried mushies in there it just gives me rock solid performance

I can't imagine how many cube spores are all over your place with that giant carpet fan. That's ridiculous.

that dude is annoying as shit but its a good idea
a friend of a friend does it very similar to that but he uses window screen on homemade wooden frames to create the shelves and then places them on a big ass fan, the only problem i see with the technique in that video is the amount of air that will be blocked using the filters, by the 4th or 5th filter layer i would imagine its not getting very much air

By filters, you mean screens? Rotate them every so often. Dehydrator ftw though. I dried 5oz (dry) in a day.
