Low temp in incubator question

Hey guys, I'm using the double rubbermaid tub with water and aquarium heater incubator. For some reason, I can't get it to above 75 degrees in there. I've turned the aquarium heater up to 86 now and only a slight .5 change in temp. So i tried to zip tie the sides down to get it nice and in the water. Still no luck. I know 75 is an okay temp to incubate at, but it's a little lower then I'd like. Anyone else have trouble with keeping up their temps? I can't figure it out... Thanks S

did you just plug it in? usually it takes about 24 hours to get up to temp (for me anwyays). the water should come at least half way up the inside tub. if its not up to temp by tomorow i would say you bought a broken heater, or dont have it plugged in/turned on.

jesus man look how long youve been around. room temp is PERFECT for incubation. incubators are not needed for colonization. what temp is your house?

I opened this account back in 03 after finding my first mushrooms. But only recently have come back to start growing. I understand room temp is fine, it's more figuring out the mystery of why I can't get it above 75. It's possible my water isn't high enough. When i think about it, it was at 79 before the jars went in. So it's possible to get it higher. I'll try and add some water today. Yes, it is covered, and it's been on for over a week before the jars went in. The jars went in on the 2nd. Thanks S
