spawning wbs to straw.
it was pasterized in a pillow case, if it is spawned to straw and left in the pillow case, will the shroomies grow through the material and make them easy to pluck? or is it better to just do a log or something similar?

they might but its not smart to leave it in the pillow I'm sure it will be very susceptible to contams.

This is just speculation, but I think the fabric weave of the pillowcase would be too tight to allow any decent sized fruits to grow off of it.
I've seen RR fruit off of paper money, though, so it would seem possible, just impractical.

my first thought was "this is a quick trick question", but here some a quich answer. not the pillow cases i sleep on, not through it, no way. hell i might be able to jam a ball point pen through one. i can think of some plants that would find an tear and expand the hole as they grow. but through it...naw but maybe on it

The mycelium will not colonize and fruit off the pillowcase most likely unless you kept it in a 100% humidity FC to where the outside doesnt dry out. It would be much much esier to pour that pilowcase out and into a tray and cover with black plastic while it colonizes. Then cover it with clear plastic after it is 100% colonized and cut a bunch of small slits in the plastic. Then it will fruit automatically with no greenhouse or FC

I think I remember reading RR say something about fruiting with laundry bags(the mesh kind) and that the shrooms will form outside the mesh making for very easy plucking. I wouldn't try that with a pillow case though, at least one made of cotton, because of the contamination risk.

I can't figure why you guys think it doesn't work. It actually works quite well. Here's a stuffed animal version of the cave bee from a 5,000 year old cave wall painting. It's straw stuffed into the fabric covering mrs rabbit made for the project. The head was left dry and not inoculated. I've seen better pinsets for sure, but heck, it's a stuffed animal. RR
