Tomato firmware
    #7987395 - 02/06/08 03:52 PM (15 years, 11 months ago)

I've been using the Tomato firmware for almost a year on my home router. It has some very advanced features dd-wrt doesn't do well and the default linksys firmware just sucks realy.

Quote:

Tomato is a small, lean and simple replacement firmware for Linksys' WRT54G/GL/GS, Buffalo WHR-G54S/WHR-HP-G54 and other Broadcom-based routers. It features a new easy to use GUI, a new bandwidth usage monitor, more advanced QOS and access restrictions, enables new wireless features such as WDS and wireless client modes, raises the limits on maximum connections for P2P, allows you to run your custom scripts or telnet/ssh in and do all sorts of things like re-program the SES/AOSS button, adds wireless site survey to see your wifi neighbors, and more.

Wow, thanks for the link. Sounds like a pretty cool firmware. I'm running Alchemy right now, and it does the job. That bandwidth usage monitor is a featuer I could see myself using.

There probably is none. but might be worth checking out dd-wrt - free wrt - HyperWRT - OpenWRT - Tarifa - X-WRT

The Linksys WRT54GL has lots of firmware available for it because it is based on linux, making it easily hackable.
