hey
i have a really dumb question as far as the steps in preparing a casing layer
.. i am using rye grain and am growing myc in 1/2 q jars
when they are fully colonized, you get them out of the jar into a aluminum roast pan or whatever you use (several jars) do you put the casing layer on them right away.. or do you let all your broken up rye gain a strong myc network ..THEN.. case it with your verm mix// what are the exact steps?

let your myc rebuild itself and then case, you can then place it directly in your FC or alternatively let the myc break through the casing and then place it in your FC, i prefer the latter

I prefer to case right away, then reincubate for 2 - 3 days ( or until myc is poking through the casing ). Then patch, and place into fruiting.
Hope this helps

you pour your colonized rye seed in and then you pour you casing on top but make sure you have pc your casing and then you put it on top of the rye seed and but it in the dark at 86F and then when you myc network had grow a bit (not all the other wise it wont fruit) you fruit it

thanks!
i have been having trouble fruiting .. i just wondered because i always shake my jars, pour it in aluminum cooking tub, and case with 50/50 right away.. wait a couple days.. then put it in fc
ive been waiting like 6 days now and no signs. im at like 78-77 degrees so i think im gonna try to drop it down to 74-70 cuz myc is still expanding!
this a good idea.. ?? maybe see some pins soon? what you all think!?

thats why i believe allowing the myc to repair itself before casing helps, you don't want to attempt to initiate pinning until your myc network is thick and healthy, you will get much more even pin sets this way
