Poor Mans Drying Box

I searched around and couldn't find a design I like so I came up with this, if its overly similar to something posted before I apologize.
Since it'll be time for me soon to dry some mushies and I'd been shopping food dehydrators and $50+ seemed a little pricey to me for something I'll use a few times a year tops.
This design should cost your average computer nerd less than $10 dollars total.
The rubbermaid/tupperware plastic containers are gotten from the .99 cent store.
The desiccant varies but I found a 42oz damp-rid refill for 8 dollars shipped.
The rest are things nerds should have laying around, 80mm case fan or similar, a DC power supply of reasonably close voltage and amperage of which I found I literally had 12 of these things laying around. An old PC power supply works also. A hole for the fan, several holes in the opposite side, and some glue is all you need.
If you had nothing to start with you can get an 80mm case fan and power adapter of some sort from radio shack for less than 10 dollars putting the project at 20 dollars total.
In all this should yield around 160 cubic inches of drying space and should dry extremely quickly as the air will be moving fast.

I'll build it as soon as I get some time.

I have a simliar box that I use damp-rid with....the only difference between mine and yours seems to be that I attached my 12v fan to bottom of the lid, so it pulls air upward.
I use a litte more desiccant too, about 1.5" of damprid on the floor of my box, which is probably a little over a square foot in size. I usually fan dry for a day then use this box...and it gets the remaining 50% or so of moisture out of an oz. in hella good time, and that amount of the damprid lasts a couple times. Good luck with yours, looks like it'll work great.

I found a "poor-er" way to do it. Take a kitchen colander, load everything in it, then attach it to the front of a regular household fan. Worked great. I had the fan, the colander and the duct tape already, so it cost me a whopping $0. Just a thought.

wicker paper plate holders close to an open window with cool dry winter breeze for me. at least right now, but they always seam to diassapear before they dry fully. i think my girlfriend gets up while im sleeping and throws them away, then again she always seams really goofy in the mourning.

If the weather permits I might fan dry instead. The weather's been unperdictable and sometimes the RH in my area is uncooperative. Thanks guys!
