The hurtin time

If the Universe is love and everything is made from love. Then pain begins/comes into being with form and consciousness.
To everything there is a purpose ... To every blade of grass And every leaf on every tree Every livin' thing will surely Come to pass And what will be will be ... That's when the hurtin' time begins
And all the things you never said Or didn't have the strengh to say And everything you ever did That time won't ever wash away Fears that you've been livin' with Come runnin' down your face Runnin' down your face When the hurtin' time begins ...
So tell me what the day brings Has it lost it's thrill? Are you still searching Hoping for that Space to fill ... Everything you turn to Is like a mirror on the shelf And the only one you're blaming is yourself
A million little deaths you've died The times that you've been crucified The more you've loved and lost and tried And still could not be satisfied When will you be satisfied? When will you be satisfied? Not till the hurtin' time begins

Maybe it is. Life is very brief.

After 'the hurtin' time', comes 'the drinking time'; followed by 'the write a country music song time'. Repeat as necessary.

A country music song about mushrooms, ego death, and schizophrenia would be rad.

You are mono-focusing on a single aspect of embodiment. With form and consciousness comes ALL varieties of experience, as without an experiencer there is no experience. The experiencer also filters experiences & ascribes meaning to their experiences, thereby creating new experiences. Yes this means pain, suffering, strife, struggle, and the like. It also means pleasure, joy, accomplishment, learning, growth and connection.
As to the Annie Lennox lyrics you posted, I think that song is about realizing that we create our own suffering. It is not until the suffering becomes "unbearable" (the hurtin' time) that we are willing to confront the fact that the enemy is us.

I realize all those other things come with life but I was thinking about where pain comes from. You're off topic darling.

No, I'm expanding upon the too-narrow original scope.

Quote:
Did the universe really begin?
Is the theory of the big bang true?
These are not questions, though they sound like they are.
Is the syntax that requires beginnings, developments
and ends as statements of fact the only syntax that exinsts?
That's the real question.
There are other syntaxes.
There is one, for example, which demands that varieties
of intensity be taken as facts.
In that syntax nothing begins and nothing ends;
thus birth is not a clean, clear-cut event,
but a specific type of intensity,
and so is maturation, and so is death.
A man of that syntax, looking over his equations, finds that
he has calculated enough varieties of intensity
to say with authority
that the universe never began
and will never end,
but that it has gone, and is going now, and will go
through endless fluctuations of intensity.
That man could very well conclude that the universe itself
is the chariot of intensity
and that one can board it
to journey through changes without end.
He will conclude all that, and much more,
perhaps without ever realizing
that he is merely confirming
the syntax of his mother tongue.

A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

You are not the determinant of what should be the scope of my thread. Don't mess with the Icelander.

We cannot be different then what creates us or the form of that creation.
