Newbs Questions About FC and Humidifiers

I've been doing a lot of reading, searching the forums and I'm finding a lot of conflicting information regarding ways to humidify your FC and ways for FAE. And I realize that science behind growing mushrooms isn't set in stone, so they all probably work for different situations. So here's my situation: I unfortunately don't own a pressure cooker (but after this grow i plan to invest in one which will fix a lot of my problems), but I had a TON of jars laying around, 48 to be exact. And I've grown them before in a perlite filled plastic tote, and it went good except the perlite is messy as all hell. So this time i had to make a slightly bigger FC because i couldn't fit 48 cakes in that plastic tote, so i found the martha tek, but unfortunately i didn't have the vertical space to build one, so i had to improvise and build it horizontally.
http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d125/redbombx/cage.jpg
it's actually kinda big, it's 5"x3"x1", that is an older picture of it too, now i have screen (like the kind from a pool enclosure) stapled and taped to the bottom so that my cakes will be elevated off the floor. i plan to use a shower curtain or some other type of plastic sheet to enclose it. I found the "sea of shrooms" tek which i guess is like a mini-casing that you dont need a pressure cooker for, since you take half a cake per solo cup and mix in some jiffy mix. so that now means i have 96 cups. they'll all fit in my FC, just barely though.
So my question now is what is the best way to humidify my FC and provide good FAE, i haven't purchased a humidifier yet and i wanted to hold off till' i found a good way to do it. I was originally going to get an ultra sonic on a timer and modify it like it said in the Magic Mushroom Growers Guide, but then i found they don't provide good FAE, so could i drill holes in the top to provide FAE? or should i just go with a cool mist and leave it on 24/7?
I'd really appreciate any help i could get from the more experienced growers. Thank You =]

i would try the cool mist on 24/7, it'll provide humidity & FAE.
make sure that you have the floor covered or some kind of drip pan... cause the water droplets will soak your floor
are you going to keep that thing on its side like that? if so then thats good use of floor space. lol i like your design

one cool mist humidifier should do it, that will take care of your Rh and your FAE, you may need to bump up the Rh a little bit but you can do that with regular mistings, or if you want to remain totally automated you could hook up an ultrasonic in conjunction with your cool mist
its nice to see people be creative and innovative, a lot of people around here will tell you just to use perlite and a terrarium with holes drilled into it, this method works well and is extremely efficent, however its just not fun for people that like to build things, a large part of this hobby for me and others is to build the tools ourselves, just my 2 cents

My greenhouse is that exact same size. I find it near perfect to run my cool mist 24/7. I use a Vicks V400 impeller type humidifier. Humidity is constantly between 94-98%
I recommend montly cleaning of your cool mist to extend the life of it. You will notice a little orange slim start to build on the walls and on the impeller itself. Just take it apart and clean it with steaming hot water.
I do an external setup to save me the hassle of having a bunch of water build-up inside my FC. Just take a 5/8'' drill bit, drill 1 hole on the lid, then take a 5/8'' garden hose and run it from the cool mist to your FC. I just use Gorilla duct tape to seal around the ports for the hose.
Best of Luck to you

mine doesnt have an airvent so im not sure what you are talking about. as long as it isnt too big, i would leave it open. see what your humidity is like, as long as it is staying between 90-99% with it open, you're fine. I actually cut a couple little "windows" in my greenhouse to help facilitate air movement and keep CO2 from building up.

ah, sorry. I worded that in a confusing way. I meant on the cool mist. i would seal up the vent where the air could normally come out and re-route it through the hose and into my greenhouse. correct?

Ah I understand. Yeah just take some heavy duty duct tape and seal it up.
