Fuck! Looks like it's gonna be Clinton vs. Mccain. I don't think there's THAT much difference between Clinton and Obama's policies but for sheer force of personality I like Obama much better. This country has suffered under a weak, inarticulate buffoon for 8 years and it would be fantastic if we could have a confident, charismatic man take the helm. Hillary seems very phony and weak-willed to me.

I know this is all very superficial but I also would've really dug having a black president. This alone could repair our world image several times over when people around the globe see that the American electorate isn't completely idiotic and intolerant, which is what most think of us for electing fucking Dubya twice.

Unfortunately the American voters have their heads up their asses and are very irrational voters... at least the Republicans. Here's some evidence:

"In New Hampshire, 21 percent of voters in the Republican primary told exit pollsters that they “somewhat disapprove” of the war. But 49 percent of those voters cast ballots for McCain—more than twice the total of any other candidate. Another 14 percent of the New Hampshire G.O.P. electorate said they “strongly disapprove” of the war. But McCain was their first choice as well, with 38 percent. (Ron Paul got 26.)"- http://www.observer.com/2008/john-mccain-anti-war-candidate

the primaries are not winner-take-all..as witness NV...so obama could easily salvage enough delegates from CA to leave him very much in it...edwards also took 10% of the vote in CA and those delegates will likely go to obama...so hope is still alive..however barely...

OTOH..what i see is alot of women voting for hillary simply because of what kind of genitals she has..which makes about as much sense as me voting for her because shes' white...yet another reason to discredit feminism should a hillary candidacy hand the POTUS to the repugnicans...

Yup, I'd imagine the tactic that Republicans use for the general election is cranking up the fear factor and saying that Al Qaeda will destroy us all unless there's a strong-on-national-security type in office (with the implied meaning, not a pussy liberal). Mccain's war credentials will be spoken about ad nauseam and he will make the argument that Hillary doesn't have the *balls* to defend America. Also expect to see some bullshit wedge issues thrown in there to distract people from the Iraq War (i.e. gay marriage).

True but I see the weak-on-national-security argument being more effective on Clinton than Obama.

Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention the phrase "tax-and-spend liberal." They'll be sure to wheel that one out even though the Republican party has been very fiscally irresponsible as of late so that'll probably hold less water.

You bring up a good point, but does it really matter which industry they got the money from? lobbyist or...oil.

Although I don't really like her, I can't really see any reason why Obama is any better. She is not getting that much more than Obama.

If Obama is the nominee they say his inexperience will lead to vulnerability.

They'll spin it either way and trying to make decisions based on the opposing parties spin is like spinning your tires.

As far as can be seen, its still very much tied-up. I am intrigued by Obama. He seems very appealing as a person, but I have no understanding of his platform, if he has one. Hopefully his sense of foreign policy and spending isn't nearly as insane as Clinton's or McCain's.

Who is funding him and what does he stand for?

He claims, and of course one can never know, that he has taken absolutely zero dollars from any lobbying group or special interest group. He claims that his entire operation is being funded by donations from individual donors.

I doubt I could describe his stance of every issue in any kind of rational manner at this time of night. You should check is campaign page.

If he received $33 million in one month from nothing but individual donors, then that is an incredible, very impressive feat. The FEC reports should demonstrate if he's telling the truth or not. The real question, it seems, is if he has/will sell-out. I'll definitely have to check it out...

in that regard I have no clue what you expect Obama to actually do if

You talk as if Obama vs. Clinton wasn't just a race for who will be the figurehead for the democratic party.

I am for Obama over Hillary primarily because I think McCain will wipe the floor with Hillary whereas Obama will prove a more difficult target. And I don't want McCain to be president, so both Obama and Hillary represent the lesser of two evils to me. Their platforms aren't that different, in terms of the issues most Americans are immediately concerned with.

Nuclear Energy Company Backs Obama's Bid

"Democrat Barack Obama has come under fire for his ties to Exelon Corp, the largest operator of nuclear reactors in the United States and one of his most generous financial backers. When Exelon failed to disclose radioactive leaks at one of its nuclear plants, Obama tried to push through a bill in the Senate last year that required such plants to notify state and local authorities of such cases, the New York Times reported last week. According to the Times, the final proposal was a watered-down version of the original legislation that "played into the hands of the nuclear power industry." Obama has collected at least $222,000 from Exelon employees for his presidential campaign, making the company his eighth largest contributor last year"

True dat, which is why it would be a major disaster for either of them to become next president of the United States. However, Obama is even MORE to the left than Hillary. He's been rated the most Liberal senator by numerous organizations. More liberal than John Kerry, more liberal than even Ted freaking Kennedy.

Lord knows McCain is nothing more than a Democrat with an (R) after his name, but he's for sure less a Commie than either of those two.

Obama is my man, for one he would stop the raids on medical marijuana in states where it is legal. Certainly a step in the right direction.

He also supports drug courts over prison.

He supports doubling money to universities for clean energy, and green initiatives.

He also believes in a single payer health-care system.

As I said he is my choice, and will be the next president of the United states.

Louisiana, Washington State, and Nebraska have caucus' or primaries today and then Maine tomorrow. Since these are almost all caucus' and not primaries it stands to reason that the winner of these can gain some serious ground on the other party. Barack is great in a caucus.

I think he's behind by 50-60 delegates, depending on who's numbers you believe. There are at least 150 delegates at stake today.

I think he's ahead by the end of the day.

I've been wrong before.

More than once.

Well, maybe you're fucked, but the rest of us are doing pretty good. :hehehe:

Anyone who reads the Blueprint for Change of Obama's will see that he is talking about real change. He has to campaign to the majority of stupid Americans, so its not like he can get too intellectual with them. At the same time, there's his entire platform and presentation of who he is and what he will do.
