I think you've got the real deal, but let's wait on some more seasoned opinions. I don't like oysters, and when i find them in the woods they're always slimy and nasty, so I don't pay too much attention to them, and am thus a little bit inexperienced with IDing them.

Yep, look like oysters to me too. Almost positive. And oysters like elm. Soooo, are they buggy? I can't tell if they are hypsizygus or pleurotus though. I'm guessing pleurotus.

I cured them in the refrigerator,re hydrated them for about 15 minutes then cooked them in some stew.Microwaved til every thing boiled then reduced the power to 50% for 15 minutes.
Not bad at all!The texture of the cap was firm and the sliced stem sections had the density of a good steak.
I couldn't tell much about the flavor because of the other stronger tastes of the pork and veggies.
I found another clump on a hack berry that had begun to decay. No bugs at all.The stems were still firm but the caps had begun to soften, sag and the gills had BB size holes in them.
I thought it unusual to see them on a hack berry.I thought hack berry trees had anti fungal properties?

It is Pleurotus, the greyish lilac spore print eliminates Hypsizygus.

Keep an eye on that log/tree it will fruit again and again year after year till it's all used up. you could even drag it home if you want to keep a close eye on it and water it once in a while. keep it somewhere shady.

I've a good idea where it is but haven't put the leg work in to relocate it yet.
It is in a fairly well shaded place that is damp almost all year so I'm hopeful for more good foraging.:D
