for some reason ive been on a punk rock kick, can anyone give me some good punk rock bands to check out?? All i know are the classics, mc5 ramones, antiflag, stuff like that. any help would be awesome!

Check out early MxPx stuff... like waaaay back. Bad Religion is a pretty good band as well.

Butthole surfers, Youth Brigade, Husker Du, The Residents, the Minutemen, fIREHOSE, samiam, the Descendents, Les Thugs, The Pagans, Subhumans(canadian, not UK), Radio Birdman, Pere Ubu, and the Zero Boys. Are some of my favorite bands. Id Ive listend to a lot of punk rock.

The only Punk Rock-affiliated genre I listen to is Emo (many disagree but it's just emotionally-charged Punk Rock; do not debate this here, PM me if you want to discuss it, let's not rape the thread). Bands like Rites Of Spring, Moss Icon, The Hated, etcetera.

emo hasn't always been terrible music the name was just picked up and turned into something that basically meant shit.

hmmm i have found the old stuff terrible too but, the differance is i have respect for them cause they werent doing it to try to be cool. when all that emo shit started again i was in mad depression for alot of reasons and was way emo just not like that or anything associated to that other then being mad empathic and feeling the pain of alot of people suffering, which was part of those reasons
