A quick questions about producing electronic music...
    #7982141 - 02/05/08 10:49 AM (15 years, 11 months ago)

Hi Everyone,
Just a quick question...

If you have an editor like Cubase or Cakewalk, you "should" be able to import a virtual synth module into it and play without the need for a physical keyboard.  Do I have that correct?

I'm playing around with Cubase so if what I'm asking is true, then can anyone recommend a few fun virtual synths for me to play with. I'd be thankful.

I think what you mean, is using VST's which are plugins for various DAW's. However a midi keyboard or midi interface is ideal , otherwise, you'll have to program and draw out the notes and velocities. If you have the resources I'd recommend Reason4

Hmmmm. interesting. I've seen Reason4 but haven't used it. I'm still green when it comes to producing music. I love all kinds of electronic music. I grew up on early electro industrial.

Reason 4 you say.. I'll have to go read up on it.

NI Absynth works as a VST plug-in and has a little keyboard that you can click with a mouse, there are also free ware programs that allow you to use your computer keyboard as MIDI keys.

I recommend buying a cheap MIDI keyboard controller for $50, it makes playing the synths much more fun.
