come experience dallas nightlife sometime and you might even slap yourself in the face for making that statement.
Where is there not a night scene?
When I picture Texas, I picture people getting drunk.
and who doesn't get drunk...?
texas, and dallas especially, has been doing the xtc nightclub/rave thing a looooong time and as a result is pretty far ahead of the whole game. dallas is home to some of the best dj's in the world and every weekend there's huge events going down and all of the clubs are equipped with top of the line lighting and sound equipment. i know much can be said the same for places in california, but you would be very surprised how well it's done in dallas.
and hearing people associate texas with yeehaws and cowboy shit really peeves the fuck out of me and shows they've never been to the state and really have no idea of what texas is about.

I guess I could call myself a raver....I used to really be into glowstick raving and liquid dancing when I was young, but now that I'm older at 22, I'm not as into the crazy intense dancing...but I still love the raves....
Here's some of my favorite rave adventures....
My very first rave: Bend.
Slipmat Science
^Actually, not the name or rave of the first one, but this was the one right after it, by the same company, S.S. I can't find the flyer for the one I went to, but its somewhere on the Internet...
And then...
2 years ago from today, the epic....
Infected Mushroom Concert in Seattle, WA

My photos:
^One of the performers. She was a white mushroom girl
 ^Floor shot
Nintecho 2: Nintendo-themed rave!

My photos:
 ^Stage
 ^Trippy slow-shutter light-tracers
"Altitude"

My Shot:
 ^Dj at Work.
And, my all time favorite....
Shpongle DJ Set!

Sadly, I could not take photos, no camera at the time...
Of course, these raves do not play Psy-Trance. Mostly trippy House and Techno. Occasionally, some fast tempo Techno, that kinda sounds like Psy-Trance....
Haven't yet been to a HUGE multi-day outdoor festival yet, but really want to! That would be the ultimate in raving!
My dream is to go to the annual Psy-Trance Festival in Brazil called Universo Paralello. If I won the lottery, that would be the first music ticket I would buy.
As for the kind of raver I am, I would say my raver style is more simple/convenient. I wear some kandi, but not much, and its more organic colors, not super-bright ones like kandi-kids. But when it comes to themed raves, I pretty much go all out for the look of a character or the theme in general...
But recently, I have changed my outlook on raves and being a rave: I recently got charged for drug-related charges while in-transit to an outdoor rave. Now, raves aren't the innocent/fun past-ti me they once were. Now they are being infiltrated by cops, and its ruining the scene here.
But at heart, I will always be a raver. Sometimes, I just play some psy-trance on my computer and playing with my green laser pointer and LED lights in my place. Its a good time.

i'll go to shows if it's someone i really wanna see. honestly most of the electronic stuff in dallas is not my cup of tea (not saying it's bad, just that it won't get me out of the house). i'll definitely hit a psytrance party though. more my speed. older crowd, better things to partake in, no drama. just good people. i'm not even a hardcore psytrance fan. i dig the chillout stuff a lot more and my friends book a lot of dubstep guys too, which is definitely up my alley.
still though, dallas is fun. it's in a bit of a downslope at the moment but i can see it coming back. there's been some good shows this year already.

LOL, it's a little hard not to stereotype Texas, Blazenn- when you've got an idiot like George Bush in office, for 8 years.

you guys really need to come to melbourne and experience the melbourne scene.....waht is being posted here is not raves. some are psytrance events or festivals, some are dubstep events (which are good odnt get me wrong, but are not raves!).
similarly the epic song you posted.......is not so epic and that is not rave music, that is happy funboy metrosexual music.
This is how melbourne rocks it alright people....just one small example from another club on a daily basis alright...

as far as i'm concerned a rave is an underground edm party thrown together to bring like minded people who fucking love electronic music and dancing all night. wether its hardstyle or house its still a rave.
fuck off with your 'melbourne's the only REAL scene'

to be technical - thats not happy hardcore/happy hardcore. believe it or not those are alot faster still then these videos here, haha.
this is actually hardstyle/hard trance/hard dance music, maybe you guys will see them as one as the same but its not, their quite different. i actually hate happy hardcore/hardcore but love hardstyle/hard trance.
alright blazzen u stick to yall square dancin bwoy in the barn out the back on the farm. melbourne is where its at brutha
and melbourne isnt the only scene that rocks it, germany and holland have amazing scenes too.

Agreed! Rave = underground EDM party (with lots of cool lighting), sometimes all night-long. Thats the definition I define Raves as...Psy-Trance, House, Techno, Hardcore, Psybient, etc...
But lets not get hostile Blazenn....everyone has their own preferences and culture in their area.
But I do agree, there is no "real" scene. How would you define that?
EDIT: To DosileFlynn...
Yeah, you're right. I don't know much about the hard genres, because I just don't listen to them. Whatever moves ya feet, like my friend used to say...
And you just opened up a book of worms with that comment DF. I made the mistake about Texas stereotypes and rave-themes based on them... some time ago, in my thread (sorry about that Blaze) and he did not take it lightly.
Its different everywhere... ~ LogicaL Chaos ~

I think if you're paying for a rave, then it isn't a rave. You wanna have to phone a number at midnight, then trek it to some field, following the bass as you go.

Those days are over... at least around here.
My first outdoor rave was something like that. A shitty little printed black and white paper with a phone# info line. Snuck out of the house to get picked up by friends to drive to the middle of nowhere, texas. I Arrived and it was ravers, cowshit, and a huge bowl shaped hole in the ground where a dried lakebed used to be with the dj stand and lighting at the highest rim.
Now its all "electronic music festivals" and club events. there are still underground outdoor parties like the psytrance stuff but you still pay to get in. I think its rare that i don't pay to get in because i know how much work and effort it takes to pull that shit together. Eventually people stop being kids and become adults that have to make money, so parties get cover charges, headliners, investers ect.
